This fall, Lite-On unveiled their new EZ-DUB technology. Developed with the everyday consumer in mind, EZ-DUB makes copying discs and backing up data as easy as pressing a button and following a few simple steps. The first drive to support this new technology is the SOHW-1673SU. Based on the SOHW-1673S, this external drive is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 4x DVD+R DL writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. The SOHW-1673SU also includes features like 48x CD reading and writing speeds, 24x rewriting speeds and support for technologies like SMART-BURN and SMART-X.

Today, CDRLabs brings you an in depth review of Pioneer's latest 16x DVD±RW, the DVR-R100. The retail version of the popular DVR-110D, the DVR-R100 is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW and 6x DVD-RW writing speeds and has a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. More importantly, it's one of the first drives with the ability to write to both DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media at 8x.

Since the introduction of their first "Super-Multi" drive, LG has continued to raise the bar, developing drives with new features and faster reading and writing speeds. The GSA-4167B is the latest addition to LG's family of "Super-Multi" drives. Announced this fall, the GSA-4167B is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 6x DVD+R DL and 4x DVD-R DL writing speeds as well as a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. On top of that, it can read and write to DVD-RAM media at 5x, the fastest speed currently available.

This fall, LG introduced their first external LightScribe enabled "Super-Multi" drive, the GSA-2166D. Sporting the same specs as its internal counterpart, the GSA-4166B, the GSA-2166D is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+R DL, 4x DVD-R DL and 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds and can read DVD's at speeds as high as 16x. Of course, LG's new "Super-Multi" drive can do more than read and write DVD's. Along with support for LightScribe, the GSA-2166D boasts features like 48x CD reading and writing speeds, 32x rewriting speeds, and a software bundle from Nero and CyberLink.

The DRU-810A is the latest addition to Sony's already impressive line of DVD writers. Announced in August, the DRU-810A takes DVD writing speeds to the next level. Based on the BenQ DW1640, the drive is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 6x DVD-R DL writing speeds and has a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. On top of that, it can write to DVD+R DL media at 8x, the fastest speed currently available.

While best known for their recordable media, Memorex offers a wide range of storage products including memory cards and USB flash drives. This spring Memorex announced that they had given their TravelDrive USB 2.0 flash drive a brand new look.
