CDRLabs finishes up the week with a review of Sony Optiarc's new 24x DVD writer, the AD-7260S. While affordably priced, this Serial ATA equipped "Super-Multi" drive features some of the fastest reading and writing speeds available. The AD-7240S is capable of 24x DVD±R, 12x DVD±R DL, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 12x DVD-RAM writing speeds as well as a maximum DVD read speed of 16x.

CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at Seagate's new external hard drive, the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk. This high-capacity desktop hard drive takes full advantage of Seagate's new GoFlex technology. While the drive supports USB 2.0 out of the box, its file transfer performance can be increased by up to 10x by swapping the GoFlex adapter base for one that supports USB 3.0 or FireWire 800. The GoFlex Desk drive also sports an illuminated capacity gauge and comes pre-loaded with easy-to-use backup software with encryption for both the Mac and PC.

Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of Transcend's first USB 3.0 compatible hard drive, the StoreJet 25D3.  Along with a great looking design, this new portable drive packs some impressive performance. Thanks to its USB 3.0 interface, the StoreJet 25D3 is capable of reading and writing at speeds as high as 90 MB/s. It also features an internal hard drive suspension system which helps to prevent data loss caused by accidental slips or falls during travel.

This stylish and compact drive is capable of 8x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 6x DVD±R DL and 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 8x. The DRX-S77U also offers features like 24x CD reading and writing speeds, a USB 2.0 interface and the Nero 9 Essentials software suite.

CDRLabs kicks off the week with a review of RiDATA's new 128GB X Series solid state drive. This MLC-based SSD utilizes JMicron's JMF612 controller chip and is capable of delivering up to 255MB/s sequential read and 190MB/s sequential write speeds. The X Series also features 64MB of on-board cache as well as static wear-leveling, TRIM support and a mini USB port.

This new Super Multi Blue drive is capable of 10x BD-R, 8x BD-R DL and 2x BD-RE writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 10x. The WH10LS30 is also backwards compatible with all major CD and DVD formats and includes features like HP's LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling system.

Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of Plextor's 12x Blu-ray Disc writer, the PX-B940SA.  Offering some of the fastest BD reading and writing speeds available, the PX-B940SA is capable of 12x BD-R, 12x BD-R DL and 2x BD-RE writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 8x. Plextor's new drive is also backwards compatible with all major CD and DVD formats and includes features like a 4MB buffer and a software bundle from CyberLink.

CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at Plextor's new 128GB solid state drive, the PX-128M1S. This MLC-based SSD utilizes Marvell's "Da Vinci" 88SS8014-BHP2 controller chip and is capable of delivering up to 130MB/s sequential read and 70MB/s sequential write speeds. The PX-128M1S also features 64MB of on-board cache as well as Plextor's unique wear leveling and garbage collection technologies.

Today, CDRLabs brings you an in depth look at Leadtek's MPEG-2/H.264 transcoding card, the WinFast PxVC1100. This low profile PCI Express card features Toshiba’s SpursEngine SE1000 processor which allows it to encode HD content in less than real time and improve the quality of upconverted video. The PxVC1100 also comes bundled with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress.
