(Panasonic), Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd., Sharp Corporation, Toshiba Corporation, Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC) and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. — today announced that it has revised its worldwide patent licensing program beginning on and after July 1, 2008, including offering a new license agreement (the “New DVD6C License”), which offers the following reduced royalty rates on DVD Decoder and DVD Encoder, respectively.

TMPG, Inc. (www.tmpg-inc.com), the company that makes digital video easy, is introducing their latest software, TMPGEnc KARMA.., a digital video library organizational tool. It will be the company’s second freeware product, joining the highly-rated TMPGEnc video encoder. The English language version of the software is available now at the TMPGEnc website for free download. A French language version is also available now on the French website.

PNY Technology announced today that it has teamed up with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to offer a 2GB USB flash drive preloaded with the movie "Ghostbusters." The drive contains the entire full length movie, which can be played back on a PC or laptop.
PNY Technologies and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announce the launch of a new 2GB USB preloaded with Sony Pictures’ 80’s comedy classic, GHOSTBUSTERS starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. This marks the first time for the release of a full length movie via a USB flash drive and will enable consumers to watch the film with one simple click on their PC or Laptop. The PNY GHOSTBUSTERS USB will be available from Argos stores nationwide from now, just ahead of the 25th anniversary year of Ghostbusters in 2009.

On the low end, you have Sony's new T-Series. The BDZ-T55 and BDZ-T75 feature a built in 320GB hard drive, a digital tuner, 24p True Cinema and, in the case of the later, support for DNLA. The BDZ-T55 and BDZ-T75 will be available on October 10th and are priced at $1,000 and $1,300, respectively.
For the mid-range, Sony has introduced its new L-Series. The BDZ-L55 and BDZ-L95 share the same features as the L-Series, but add an HDV/DV input as well as two USB ports. The BDZ-L95 ups the ante even further with a 500GB hard drive, memory card reader, DLNA and support for “One-touch” and Handycam dubbing. The BDZ-L55 and BDZ-L95 will go on sale on September 29th and are priced at $1,200 and $1550, respectively.
Last but not least, you have Sony's Z-Series. The BDZ-X95 and BDZ-X100 include most of the features found on the T and L-Series as well as larger hard drives, dual tuners, Sony's Cross Media bar GUI and the new Digital Reality Creation - Multi Function version 3 (DRC-MFv3) chip. On top of that, they can transcode and transfer video to the PSP, Walkman and mobile phones. Like the L-Series, the BDZ-X95 and BDZ-X100 will hit stores on September 29th and are priced at $1,800 and $2,500, respectively.
