Acronis, a provider of easy-to-use backup, disaster recovery and security solutions for physical, virtual and cloud environments, today announced the release of a new free disk monitoring tool for businesses and consumers alike, Acronis Drive Monitor.
Acronis Drive Monitor is a free, downloadable software application that monitors the health of server, PC and laptop hard disk drives. It helps to alert users to problems that may indicate an imminent failure and in doing so gives users time to react by saving the data contained on their hard drive and allowing them to arrange for replacements.

Sonic Solutions and RealD Inc. today announced a strategic alliance to develop and release new consumer solutions for the home creation, publishing and playback of personal 3D video content, as well as the enjoyment of premium 3D entertainment. As part of the collaboration, Sonic is integrating the propriety stereoscopic RealD Format into its RoxioNow™ premium entertainment platform. Once titles become available for online distribution, the RealD Format will be used to efficiently deliver Cinematic-quality, stereoscopic 3D entertainment directly to a broad range of connected consumer electronics devices. In addition, the RealD Format will be featured in Roxio consumer software applications for the creation and consumption of true-3D quality home movies. The new 3D-enabled products and services are expected to be available this summer.
