TEAC Europe recently launched its new BDXL compatible Blu-ray Disc writer, the BD-W512SA. Based on what appears to be the Pioneer BDR-207, this new drive can write to triple- (100GB) and quad-layer (128GB) BD-R media at 6x and triple-layer (100GB) BD-RE media at 2x. The BD-W512SA is also capable of 12x BD-R, 12x BD-R DL, 6x BD-R LTH, 2x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and supports both horizontal and vertical mounting for most system configurations.
No word yet on price, but the BD-W512SA is scheduled to ship at the end of February.

Corel today announced that it has completed the acquisition of the Roxio business from Rovi Corporation. With this deal, Corel has expanded its product portfolio to include Roxio’s broad range of digital media and security solutions, including Roxio Creator, the industry’s most popular digital media suite and Roxio Toast, the leading media conversion software on the Mac platform. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
