Millenniata and MKM/Verbatim announce the first 100GB Blu-ray optical discs which will enable consumers, SMBs and enterprises to utilize large-scale optical storage to capitalize on the greater than 1,000 year archival storage life that M-DISC technology provides! The 100GB M-DISC Blu-ray media will be available for shipment globally through the Verbatim and Millenniata Channels by the end of February 2015.
MKM/Verbatim is world renowned for pushing the boundaries of optical disc technology and delivering high quality products. This latest Blu-ray media is being manufactured at the Mizushima factory in Japan and has undergone rigorous and extensive tests to ensure both performance and compliance. Manufactured in accordance to and conforming to the standard BDXL specification, the 100 GB M-DISC media will work in any BDXL capable Blu-ray drive.
The 100GB BD M-DISC has been tested by MKM, Millenniata and 3rd parties according to the internationally-accepted lifetime testing standard ISO/IEC 16963 2nd ed. The outcome is a remarkable average lifetime of significantly more than 2,000 years with no more than 1 failure per 100,000 discs expected, after more than 1,000 years at 25C (77F) and 50% relative humidity. In other words, data can be reliably stored for centuries on the 100 GB BD M-DISC in a typical home or office closet.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced today that it is now mass producing the industry’s first ePoP (embedded package on package) memory - a single memory package consisting of 3GB LPDDR3 DRAM, 32GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller. For use in high-end smartphones, the extremely thin ePoP combines all essential memory components into a single package that can be stacked directly on top of the mobile processor, without taking any additional space – a distinct improvement over existing two-package eMCP memory solutions.
“By offering our new high-density ePoP memory for flagship smartphones, Samsung expects to provide its customers with significant design benefits, while enabling faster and longer operation of multi-tasking features,” Jeeho Baek, Senior Vice President of Memory Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “We plan to expand our line-up of ePoP memory with packages involving enhancements in performance and density over the next few years, to further add to the growth of premium mobile market.”

Ideal for enterprise companies, government agencies and concerned consumers, the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive offers a higher assurance of security.
Available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, the Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive uses a built-in mini-keyboard to authenticate access, incorporating a rechargeable battery so the user can enter a secure code before plugging into a USB port. Users simply enter their secure PIN and plug the drive into any USB 2.0 port on a compatible device. Once access is granted, the drive “unlocks” the media, permitting clearance to all of the content stored on the drive. When the drive is removed from a USB port, the drive automatically re-locks and encrypts the stored media.

Lite-On today announced that it is providing solid-state drives for Dell’s latest portfolio of PowerEdge servers, including the unique 1.8-inch SSD form factor option customized for Dell. The new Lite-On SSDs provide new levels of storage density, flexibility and performance, as well as new monitoring features that further protect data across the enterprise.
The combination of Lite-On SSDs and Dell PowerEdge servers enable customers to accelerate applications by bringing data closer to the processor for increased application performance. For example, with Lite-On’s cost effective N9S 1.8-inch SATA flash drives, the Dell PowerEdge R630 can deliver customers up to 2.4 times the input/output operations per second (IOPS) in the same amount of space as 2.5-inch SSDs.
With the PowerEdge R730xd, the first hybrid storage server in the industry to employ Lite-On’s 1.8-inch SATA flash drives, Dell provides up to 100TB of storage for workloads such as Microsoft Exchange, where it also delivers up to a 50 percent increase in mailbox size over previous generation servers.

QNAP Systems, Inc. announced the release of firmware v3.2.0 for the QGenie Mobile NAS, adding File Station Lite and supporting FTP servers for remote access and for faster file transfers.

QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced the release of the industry’s first Qfinder Chrome app, enabling Chromebook and Chrome users to quickly search for and connect to their Turbo NAS over LAN with only a few clicks. QNAP Systems, Inc. today released the Turbo NAS QTS 4.1.2 operating system, introducing NAS Installation over HDMI - a pioneering function in the NAS market that allows installing a NAS without a network connection, and adds several new features including VPN Server support, VPN Client support, block-based LUN backup, subtitle (*.SRT) support for Video Station and File Station, embedding subtitles into transcoded videos, Chromecast streaming, and more.
