QNAP Systems, Inc. today released Photo Tagger, an iOS mobile app that allows users to directly tag labels on photos from their mobile devices for personalized classification and more convenient searching on mobiles.
“In the digital era, we preserve our memories using our smart phones. With Photo Tagger, users can add tags to their photos for convenient and easy photo management,” said QNAP Product Manager Sherry Liao.
Photo Tagger is an iOS app specially designed for adding tags to photos, solving the problem of the default “Photos” app not supporting adding tags or notes. Users can add self-defined tags to their photos before or after taking them, providing a smarter and faster way to manage photos. When users save their photos to their NAS, the tags are included in the file metadata for quicker and more efficient searching. Users can also create shortcuts to their most-viewed or most-visited photos by setting related tags as their favorite tags. A QNAP NAS is not required to use Photo Tagger.

QNAP Systems, Inc. partnered with Vinpower Digital, a leading supplier in Optical Disc hardware and media solutions, to integrate Vinpower’s industrial-grade blu-ray optical disc drive for the TVS-882BR Blu-ray NAS series, allowing users to write NAS-based content directly onto CD, DVD, or Blu-ray optical discs as an additional back-up solution.
The TVS-882BR series provides an excellent solution for storing large amount of digital contents and allows for easy sharing through a network. However, it’s always recommended to follow a “3-2-1” rule when storing digital content. The “3-2-1” rule represents having at least three copies of your data, of which two should be stored on two different media and one backup copy should be kept offsite. This rule is specifically designated for protecting against natural disasters that could potentially destroy all property and data stored in an affected region. That is why QNAP had the foresight to also include a Blu-ray writer drive onto theTVS-882BR Blu-ray NAS series.

QNAP Systems, Inc. today released the QTS 4.3.4 beta for ARM-based QNAP NAS. As data security is a fundamentally essential requirement for NAS, QNAP makes snapshots a standard feature to help mitigate the growing threat of ransomware. QNAP has been working alongside AnnapurnaLabs, an Amazon company, and from QTS 4.3.4, QNAP NAS with AnnapurnaLabs processors can support snapshots with only 1GB RAM, making snapshot protection more accessible to users of entry-level NAS. QTS 4.3.4 for x86-based NAS and other ARM-based NAS models will be released soon with comprehensive and accessible snapshot protection.

Synology Inc. today launched DS218play, DS218j, and DS118, three feature-rich NAS servers with media streaming, file sharing, and data backup features perfect for home and small offices.
DS218play is equipped with a 64-bit quad-core 1.4 GHz processor with a hardware encryption engine and 1 GB RAM, delivering encrypted sequential reading/writing throughput at over 110 MB/s. Powered by a hardware transcoding engine, DS218play supports real-time single channel 10-bit H.265 4K Ultra HD or single channel full HD video transcoding. The TS-453BT3 is a compact and stylish desktop NAS with 4 drive bays for 3.5” or 2.5” HDDs/SSDs for up to 40TB of internal storage (using 10TB drives) and storage is expandable with QNAP expansion enclosures.
