ADATA Technology has announced the release of the DashDrive Durable UD320 USB Flash drive, the company’s first implementation of the USB On-The-Go (OTG) specification. USB OTG allows devices such as smartphones and tablets to act as a host, allowing USB flash drives to be connected directly for data transfer.
The UD320 is equipped with a micro-USB interface that fits directly into the port of mobile devices running Android 4.1 or higher, without the need for a cable or an adaptor. It also has a standard USB port that can connect to USB slot of any desktop computer. With capacities of 16 and 32 gigabytes, the UD320 greatly simplifies managing files on mobile devices, giving smartphones and tablets immediate access to files stored, and also allowing for easy backups of media created on the mobile device.
“Even with the increasing prevalence of wireless networks and cloud storage, many consumers need, and sometimes just want, physical drives that are portable and dependable,” said Karl Smith, project manager at ADATA. “We are entering an era where mobile devices will be ubiquitous, and the DashDrive Durable UD320 is just one of the many ways ADATA is moving to meet the storage needs in this new mobile world.”
The UD320 incorporates many design features that improve its appearance and convenience of use. Small and light, with gleaming jewel-like end caps, the UD320 also has a strap hole for improved portability and convenience. Additionally, purchasers of this latest addition to the popular DashDrive Durable family will be eligible for a free download of ADATA’s proprietary UFDtoGO software, an indispensible tool for maintaining and updating personal data when on the road.
