Sonnet Technologies today announced the launch of the Allegro™ 7-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A PCIe Card, a new cost-effective addition to Sonnet's broad range of USB adapter cards. The Allegro card adds seven USB-A 5Gbps ports to a single PCIe card slot in desktop tower computers, enabling users to connect seven USB devices to their computer at the same time.

The Allegro 7-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A PCIe Card is a full-height card for desktop computers. The card connects six external USB-A peripheral devices, plus one internal device, and includes SATA and PCIe power connectors for connecting auxiliary power when devices plugged into the card require more than 25 watts of power. The Allegro card installs into an available full-height PCIe card slot and uses drivers built into operating system software to function.

All recent desktop tower computers include a limited number of USB-A ports. Some manufacturers still include USB 2.0 ports suitable only for connecting mice, keyboards, and other devices with very low bandwidth requirements. Additionally, the number of rear-mounted USB-A ports on these computers may be small. For users with USB peripherals such as pro audio interfaces, control pads, microphones, MIDI controllers, and mixers, the small number of ports can interfere with their workflows when numerous devices need to be connected at the same time. The Allegro 7-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A PCIe Card provides users with plenty of extra USB-A 5Gbps connectivity, enabling them to connect more peripherals at the same time while only using one card slot in their computers.

The Allegro 7-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A PCIe Card (part number USB3-7PM-E) is available now from Sonnet and soon from its worldwide distribution and reseller partners at the suggested retail price of $49.99.
