At the opening of CeBIT 2014, QNAP Inc. has partnered with Seagate Technology to demonstrate a new series of Turbo NAS and storage expansion solutions with its new QTS 4.1 NAS operating system, VioStor NVR firmware QVR 5.0, and more. Visitors can experience the full-spectrum of Turbo NAS series and VioStor NVR series at CeBIT 2014.

QTS 4.1, the Turbo NAS operating system, provides an easy-to-use interface that greatly simplifies operation & management tasks and features a wide range of apps to enrich home & business use. QTS 4.1 provides home users with Music Station, Photo Station, and Video Station for enjoying multimedia on wide range of devices, and business users have comprehensive solutions for storage, backup and virtualization.

QTS 4.1 introduces new features including Notes Station, Signage Station, SAMBA v4 support, Real-Time Remote Replication (allows 2-way data sync between two Turbo NAS units & supports FTP root-path), enhanced NetBak Replicator backup for Windows, vSphere Plug-in v1.3, and McAfee® Antivirus. The new Virtualization Station enhances virtualization tasks, allowing for a Turbo NAS to be a virtualization server hosting multiple VMs & applications.

QNAP also unveiled its top-class business Turbo NAS, the TS-ECx80U series, available in 8, 12, 16, and 24-bay, delivering unparalleled 4,000+ MB/s throughput and 580,000+ IOPS, and the medium-class TS-470U-RP that supports 4 LAN ports to provide up to 400MB/s read/write performance.

New storage expansion solutions, including a high-end SAS-enabled tower expansion enclosure and economical expansion enclosures for SOHO/SMB, were introduced to provide more options for Turbo NAS users. “QNAP’s new storage expansion solutions will save IT administrators from having to invest big at initial setup,” said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP. “The new economical expansion enclosures provide more budget-friendly options for small businesses, increasing their flexibility in allocating IT budgets.”

Seagate’s NAS hard drives were used throughout QNAP’s booth to showcase reliable NAS solutions. QNAP also demonstrated its cloud backup options with Windows® Azure, Amazon® Glacier, enhanced Amazon S3 support, and WebDAV-supported cloud storage for users to enjoy more flexibility in backing up Turbo NAS data. The new industrial NAS IS-400 Pro represented QNAP’s dedication to satisfying diverse user requirements.

Brand New VioStor NVR firmware - QVR 5.0

QVR 5.0 is the brand new VioStor NVR firmware, introducing an intelligent desktop with multi-window design, simplified user interface, and new features including floating tool bar, speed control shuttle bar and video thumbnails. The VMobile and Vcam mobile apps enhance surveillance management on the go. Security administrators can enjoy an unprecedented monitoring & management experience with the innovative QVR 5.0.

QSCM Lite, available in the QVR 5.0 App Center, is a free app enabling a VioStor NVR to function as a Central Management System (CMS). Security administrators can easily enjoy a turnkey CMS solution with QSCM Lite to enable multi-server management with a VioStor NVR, without the need of purchasing a dedicated CMS server.

QNAP showed their strong partnership with Axis® Communications, the global market leader in network video surveillance. While users can easily build well-rounded surveillance systems with the VioStor NVR and various compatible IP cameras, they can alternatively adopt a Turbo NAS compatible with AXIS Camera Companion, the video management software (VMS) for Axis IP cameras, to create surveillance systems.

Digital Signage Player - iS-2840

The QNAP digital signage player includes its own embedded software allowing easy content design and control for content placement. The software allows the freedom to schedule message delivery and the flexibility to manage multiple signage players over a network.

The latest Digital Signage Player iS-2840, supporting 4 Full HD playbacks concurrently, was demonstrated showing its 4K playback capability to combine four screens as one big 4K (2x2) video wall and to support all-horizontal (4x1 & 1x4) video wall arrangements. With the powerful iSignager software, the iS-2840 enables users to edit 2x2 content with bezel compensation.

QNAP NAS Development Platform

QTS 4.1, powered by an open-source Linux kernel, is a user-friendly development platform, allowing developers to create various apps and to directly utilize the storage & security features of the Turbo NAS. QNAP have presented various apps developed by partners and demonstrated the QTS development platform’s potential in creating near-unlimited functionality.

The availability of QTS 4.1 official version, the TS-ECx80U series, TS-470U-RP, new SAS-enabled tower expansion enclosure, economical expansion enclosures, QVR 5.0 and QSCM Lite will be announced separately.
