QNAP Systems, Inc. today launched the compact and versatile TBS-453DX NASbook which is designed for small working spaces and mobile workers. Using four M.2 SATA SSDs for storage, the TBS-453DX can also have 20 cloud storage spaces mapped and local caching enabled, providing the ability to work with online files as quickly as local files. The multi-functional and near-silent TBS-453DX provides HDMI 2.0 4K 60Hz output, hardware transcoding and streaming, and features 10GbE N-BASET connectivity based on Aquantia's Multi-Gig controller, making it perfect for creating a seamless high-speed network environment for improved teamwork and smooth multimedia applications.

“The TBS-453DX NASbook packs serious performance and complete business applications into a tiny, portable frame. By seamlessly integrating cloud storage spaces, the TBS-453DX provides the combined advantages of portability and storage flexibility to boost the abilities of modern offices and studios,” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “With the ability to locally cache cloud-based files on the TBS-453DX, no matter if users are working remotely or in the office, they can enjoy access speeds as if they were working within a LAN environment.”

The TBS-453DX is powered by an Intel Celeron J4105 quad-core 1.5 GHz processor (burst up to 2.5 GHz) with 4 GB/ 8 GB DDR4 memory. It supports four M.2 2280 SATA 6Gb/s SSDs (purchased separately), and the RAM and SSDs are easily accessible for installation and maintenance. With QNAP’s new Cloud Gateway service (including the file-level gateway “CacheMount” and the block-level gateway “VJBOD Cloud”), users can mount over 20 cloud storage services for seamless file storage, backup, and recovery. By enabling caching for CacheMount and VJBOD Cloud, files on the cloud can be locally cached in TBS-453DX’s CacheMount Cache Volume, and users can reach frequently-accessed files with the lowest latency and work with them as they were stored on the NAS. Users can further utilize SSD extra over-provisioning (OP) to allocate SSD additional OP space (from 1% to 60%) for optimized SSD random write speeds and lifespan, enjoying faster file backups and smoother multimedia experiences.

The TBS-453DX supports media playback on a TV/monitor via HDMI 2.0 output (up to 4K @60Hz) and converts 4K videos to universal file formats that can be smoothly played on multiple devices. It is also perfect for media streaming using Plex and Roon Server. With its 10GbE NBASE-T (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) connectivity, the TBS-453DX creates a seamless high-speed network environment for smooth multimedia applications and sharing large files.

Running the intelligent QTS NAS operating system, the TBS-453DX performs as a unified solution for storage, backup, sharing, synchronization, and centralized management. QTS provides block-based snapshot protection to help users effectively mitigate the threat of ransomware, the ability to host multiple virtual machines and containerized applications, and the App Center with hundreds of install-on-demand apps to extend NAS functionality.
