Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the release of the DataTraveler® 5000 USB Flash drive. The DataTraveler 5000 is FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified with Level 3 pending, and features 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption. It uses XTS cipher mode and also uses elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) algorithms to meet Suite B standards approved by the U.S. government.

LSI Corporation today announced a collaboration with Seagate Technology to deliver robust, PCI Express® (PCIe®)-based solid-state storage (SSS) solutions for data center and cloud computing environments. Through this joint effort, LSI is expected to deliver board-level products that integrate LSI™ SAS and PCIe technology with Seagate solid-state drive (SSD) technology. The products are designed to provide enterprise OEMs and channel partners with new levels of performance, reliability and ease of use while addressing architectural challenges that have limited SSS adoption. Product samples are expected to be available to OEM customers in the second quarter of this year.

OPPO Digital announced today the release of a new high-performance Blu-ray Disc player, model number BDP-80.
The new BDP-80 is a full-featured universal Blu-ray Disc™ player that supports BD Profile 2.0 (BD-Live and BonusView), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD), HDCD, CD and other popular media formats such as AVCHD, MKV video files, digital photos and music. Sharing the same decoder and similarly optimized firmware as OPPO's award-winning BDP-83, the BDP-80 features fast disc load times, quick response to user operations, and robust audio and video controls. Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the release of the second-generation SSDNow V+ solid-state drive. The SSDNow V+ solid-state drive has Windows® 7 TRIM support, is available up to 512GB and provides faster performance than the previous generation.
"The new SSDNow V+ is an ideal solid-state drive for high-level consumers and in corporate environments where efficiency and performance are important as more system resources are in use," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston®. The addition of TRIM support helps keep the SSDNow V+ maintain optimal write speed throughout its lifespan. Using PCMark® Vantage 1.0.1 for Windows 7, the 512GB SSDNow V+ drive received a score of 28,264, whereas a 7200RPM hard-disk drive reached 3,294. PCMark Vantage 1.0.1 for Windows 7 runs a series of tests such as operating system startup, importing photos, adding music to Windows Media Center and application loading. The score is an indicator of how many bytes are moved per second.

The new 128GB SSD is ideal for upgrading popular laptops and netbooks. Synology® Inc. today launched DiskStation DS1010+, a high-performance NAS server delivering scalability, significant storage capacity and multiple business-oriented features for SMB users.
Delivering reliable performance is key for business servers and the Synology DS1010+ delivers. In the Synology testing lab, the Synology DS1010+ breaks through previous performance tests. "It delivers an average 115+ MB/sec reading speed under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows environment, and 109+ MB/sec writing," said Edward Lin, marketing director of Synology Inc. "The Synology DS1010+ keeps performance high when handling requests from numerous Windows clients concurrently. As to its web server responsiveness rate, it takes only 30.81 seconds to handle 1,000 simultaneous requests," Lin added.
The Synology DS1010+ holds five hard drives that can be scaled up to a total of 10 drives for a maximum of 20 TB capacity using the Synology DX510 that will be launched in March 2010. The hot-swappable hard drive design ensures virtually minimal downtime. The Synology DS1010+ is powered by a 1.67 GHz CPU with floating point computing, 64 bit memory bus, two Gigabit LAN ports, 4 USB ports and 1 GB DDRII RAM. With an optional RAM module, the RAM capacity can be scaled up to 2 GB or 3 GB.
