Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today announced that it has enhanced its NAND flash portfolio with the introduction of a family of higher performance 24-nanometer (nm) e-MMC devices. Greatly reducing the bottlenecks often encountered by single data rate NAND, the use of toggle-mode double data rate (DDR) NAND improves performance and enables faster random access and sequential performance. With densities ranging from 2-gigabyte (GB) to 128GB, these new embedded NAND flash memory modules feature the world's smallest geometry e-MMC, one of the highest capacities achieved in the industry, and offer full compliance with the JEDEC e-MMC Version 4.41 standard.

Toshiba's 24nm e-MMC process lowers costs, enables higher densities, boosts performance and allows for smaller packages – all of which are key requirements for space-conscious applications such as smartphones, tablet PC s, eBooks, digital video cameras, printers, servers, and POS systems.

As more office workers use micro secure digital (SD) cards to store data on portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, the need to copy memory cards is growing. Xerox Corporation, through a licensing agreement with Vinpower Digital, today introduced a line of standalone, high-speed SD/MicroSD duplicators that eliminates the need for adapters, and makes it easier to create multiple copies of any SD or MicroSD memory card.

Until now, duplicating MicroSD cards, which are about the size of a fingernail, required a special adaptor. Making multiple copies of the cards was time consuming because each card had to be inserted individually into a personal computer to copy. The Xerox SD/MicroSD Duplicator eliminates the need for adaptors by providing both a standard size SD slot as well as a slot for the much smaller MicroSD.

silicon_power_velox_v30_ssd.jpgLeading memory storage brand, Silicon Power today announces the launch of its first SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD), the Velox Series V30. Continuing the efficiency and stability of the V20, the V30 employs the highest spec SATA 6 Gbps interface on the market, while remaining backwards compatible with the SATA II Gbps interface. Running at over double the efficiency of the SATA 3 Gbps interface, the V30 is a top level product that can meet the needs of computer gamers and professional computer users alike.

The Silicon Power V30 SSD uses a SandForce controller chip, enabling it to reach a top read speed of 550 MB/s, and top write speed of 500 MB/s. It also supports TRIM command and Garbage Collection technology, resolving the issue of decreased efficiency in SSDs used for long periods of time.

The V30 SSD employs multiple techniques to strengthen the product's stability and durability. These include: DuraWrite and wear leveling, which extends the endurance of MLC memory providing at least 5 year lifecycles with 3-5K cycle MLC flash; Implementation of ECC (Error Checking & Correction) technology then ensures reliability of data transmission; and built-in SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting Technology) enables consumers to check on the product's operating status at any time.
