Blu-ray Discs premastered using Dolby® TrueHD with advanced 96k upsampling can now deliver to consumers a full-range high-definition surround sound experience ensuring optimum performance from today’s advanced A/V receivers and Blu-ray Disc players. The new Dolby TrueHD coding solution enables facilities to integrate the benefits of 96 kHz playback quality audio into the final master while simultaneously reducing the incidence of digital artifacts introduced during the content-creation process.

Synology Inc. today released the Mac client of Cloud Station Beta, providing an easy, yet secure data synchronization solution for Mac users.
“Cloud Station redefines the role of a NAS server, making Synology DiskStation and RackStation a true private cloud which not only pushes your data to all your devices automatically, but also keeps them up-to-date,” said Darren Lin, Product Manager of Synology Inc. “Cloud Station can grow with users’ demands with no recurring fees. Buffalo Japan sent out a press release this morning, announcing its new portable, BDXL compatible Blu-ray Disc writer, the BRXL-PC6VU2. Available in four glossy colors, this USB-powered drive is capable of 6x BD-R, 6x BD-R DL, 4x BD-R LTH, 2x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 6x. The BRXL-PC6VU2 also writes to triple- (100GB) and quad-layer (128GB) BD-R media at 4x and triple-layer (100GB) BD-RE media at 2x.
The BRXL-PC6VU2 comes with a software bundle from CyberLink that supports BDXL recording as well as Blu-ray 3D playback. While the red color won't be available until June, the black, silver and white versions of the drive are scheduled to ship at the end of May for a suggested retail price of 11,500 Yen ($143US).

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced that its Canvio 3.0 and Canvio Basics 3.0 portable hard drives will now offer consumers up to 1.5 terabytes of storage and Mac compatibility, without the need for reformatting, on a select Canvio 3.0 model. All of these offerings come equipped with USB 3.0 technology for higher data transfer speeds and enable consumers quickly and easily store, transfer and back up their valuable data.
