SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that Lenovo has selected SanDisk to provide the solid state drive (SSD) caching technology for the new Lenovo® ThinkPad Edge E430™ and E530™ laptop computers.

The SanDisk® U100 mSATA SSD is used in Lenovo's ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 along with Condusiv™ Technologies ExpressCache® software. The hardware and software combination from SanDisk delivers up to four times the performance of a standalone hard disk drive (HDD). This means that consumers and business users will experience significantly faster start up and application loading times without frustrating delays.

"ThinkPad users expect a laptop that delivers everything they need to enjoy a versatile computing experience-innovative solutions, time-tested, intelligent design and, of course, high performance," said Luis Hernandez, vice president, ThinkPad Edge Business Unit, Lenovo. "The ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 laptops with SanDisk's SSD technology exceed those expectations, particularly for small-to-medium businesses looking for an advantage with a productivity-enhancing PC that's equally suited for use at home, in the office or on the road."

A 16GB SanDisk U100 SSD and the Condusiv caching software work alongside the HDD in the ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 to store data that is most frequently accessed. This allows a significant boost to performance because information is processed more quickly.

RunCore, the leading manufacturer of high-performance and rugged solid state drives (SSDs), today introduced its new Pro VI 2.5in 7mm SSD for Ultrabooks, offers a higher and more stable performance than Pro V 2.5’s 7mm SSD.

runcore_pro_vi_ssd.png

By some observations from multiple authoritative research institutions, it believes that more than a million Ultrabooks will be bought this year because the price of them are expected to drop into the $799 to $899 range. Recently SSD price declining encourages PC suppliers to use SSDs in their products and the development of Ultrabooks. In addition to the Pro V Ultra SSD, RunCore once again introduce another new 7mm SSD – Pro VI 2.5in 7mm SSD - to enrich its product lineup for Ultrabooks.

Biwin, an industry leader in flash storage products, will showcase a working PCIE based solid state drive (SSD) in a technology demo system in their booth at the Computex convention this week in Taipei. Although this product will not be released for sale, it is the precursor to the company’s future line of PCIE-based enterprise class SSDs.

Today's SATA SSDs deliver sequential and random performance that is dramatically faster than HDDs. But enterprise applications demand ever greater performance, requiring storage solutions with far greater bandwidth than SATA can provide. PCI Express, or PCIE, offers three big advantages as an SSD interface:

  • universal availability;
  • massive bandwidth in a single volume;
  • general freedom from compatibility issues.

As Gen3 PCIE servers are deployed, available bandwidth to accelerate access to data in a single physical volume increases exponentially compared to SATA, with up to 8GB/sec of bandwidth for the PCIE x8 Gen3 bus.

SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that Fujitsu has selected the SanDisk iSSD integrated storage device for use in the new Fujitsu LIFEBOOK™ lineup of Ultrabook™ computers.

The 32 gigabyte (GB) SanDisk iSSD provides fast, reliable storage in the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK U772, UH772 and UH572 models, which Fujitsu introduced today. SanDisk iSSD technology is combined with Condusiv™ Technologies ExpressCache® software in the new Fujitsu LIFEBOOK computers to deliver improved system performance. This software and hardware combination reduces system startup and application loading times to deliver a better overall user experience.

“The LIFEBOOK product line is the result of Fujitsu’s consistent focus on innovation and design,” said Susumu Nikawa, vice president, Personal Computing Div. 1, Personal Systems Business Unit, Fujitsu. “SanDisk’s iSSD allows us the flexibility to deliver a compelling product with the performance and design features that will make the LIFEBOOK a successful entrant in the Ultrabook market.”

The SanDisk iSSD device and Condusiv caching software used in the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK line stores data that is most frequently accessed. Because this caching approach works alongside the computer’s hard disk drive (HDD), system performance is improved while maintaining the larger storage capacities of HDDs. SanDisk holds an exclusive license to sell ExpressCache software as a standalone product and in combination with its SSD-based storage solutions.
