Synology Inc. today launched the new DX213, Synology’s first 2-bay DiskStation expansion solution that satisfies the growth of storage demand from business and power users.
“Managing and handling the increasing amount of data should not take time away from running a business. Therefore, Synology designed the DX213 to help users quickly and effortlessly expand DiskStation storage by an additional two bays when it reaches its maximum capacity,” said Chad Jiang, product manager at Synology Inc.
On selected DiskStation models, RAID volumes can be expanded directly across DX213 without the hassle of reformatting existing hard drives, bringing the additional benefit of continuous service uptime throughout this process. Users also have the freedom to create DX213 as an independent volume for the paired DiskStation. As such, DX213 can function as an effortless local backup solution.

Eye-Fi Inc., makers of the world's first wireless memory card, has announced today a new Eye-Fi Pro X2 16GB, Class 10 card that increases both storage and speed capabilities while continuing to deliver convenient, reliable wireless upload of photos and videos from cameras. The new 16GB card provides twice the storage capacity of the prior Pro X2 card, while the Class 10 performance delivers ultra-fast read and write speeds. Verbatim is launching a Blu-ray Disc to run on BDXL-compatible readers and writers with a super-sized 100GB of storage capacity – four times higher than storage on a standard recordable Blu-ray Disc.
Certified by the BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association), the high capacity recordable Blu-ray Discs from Verbatim enable users to backup high resolution photography, music or HD video files at 4x write speed. With 100GB storage, the BDXL discs can approximately store over 40,000 photos, 20,000 songs or 8 hours of HD video.
Blu-ray Discs offer significantly more storage capacity compared to DVD and CD media resulting in far fewer discs being required to save large volumes of data. Standard Blu-ray Discs provide storage capacities of 25GB for a single-layer disc and 50GB for a dual-layer disc, but Verbatim’s BDXL disc includes a third layer to give it a storage capacity of 100GB. The discs come with a specialised hard coat surface to protect them against scratches.
