The advantages of SSDs include high shock resistance, noiseless operation, and low-power consumption.  When these features are implemented in a portable USB 3.0 device, the result is a remarkably durable storage option with speeds that far outpace those of mechanical HDDs. The SE720 has read speeds up to 400 MB/sec, and write speeds of up to 300 MB/sec.

High-precision clocks and asynchronous USB virtually eliminate jitter, while separate printed-circuit boards for digital, analog and power ensure that the Essence III’s audio delivery is crystal-clear and free of crosstalk. Remote-controlled volume driven by stepped attenuators allow output levels to be set with great precision – even from the far side of the listening room.

“Essence III is more than the flagship product of our audio range,” said Ives Chiu, product manager of ASUS Multimedia Business Department, “it is a representation of how dedicated and how serious we are in the pursuit of high-quality audio. We have crafted Essence III to be just as satisfying to use as it is to hear”

kingmax_sme_xvalue_ssd.pngFor today’s PC users, high-performance, high-quality SSDs are increasingly the preferred choice. KINGMAX, a premium memory and Flash module manufacturer that serves the world market, is proud to introduce SME 32/35, the latest additions to its SME Xvalue SSD Series.

The SME SATA III 2.5” SSDs make a timely debut as many must be considering a replacement or upgrade of their HDDs. For most end users, performance is hardly the ultimate determinant for choosing between the two storage devices, empirical studies show. But they know SSDs are faster than HDDs and that the former does speed up their system both during booting and in operation.

An exceptionally attractive cost-performance ratio justifies SME as a bargain. This is especially the case with those who would rather go for a partial refresh as an across-the-board upgrade of their existing old devices seems hardly warranted. Pitted against comparable HDD counterparts, it stands out with an ultra-low cost per IOPS and extraordinary operational efficiency on the same measure of power consumption.

HGST, a Western Digital company, today announced that it is shipping its new MegaScale DC 4000.B, a 3.5-inch, 4TB, 6 Gb/s SATA hard disk drive (HDD). As the company's second-generation MegaScale drive, the new MegaScale DC 4000.B has been further optimized based on customer feedback to meet the explosive growth of infrequently accessed data, while balancing the right mix of power, capacity, performance and reliability. As part of a tiered storage strategy, the MegaScale DC 4000.B is designed for low-workload applications such as bulk storage for unstructured or big data, disk-to-disk backup, online archives, or long-term data retention where cost-per-GB, watt-per-GB and GB-per-square foot are critical parameters.

"With the explosive adoption of free email, social networks and Internet services, the capacity requirements for cloud and hyperscale data centers are growing astronomically. These environments are constantly looking for ways to improve their storage infrastructure costs and the bottom line," said Brendan Collins, vice president of product marketing, HGST. "As a leading drive supplier to some of the world's largest cloud data center providers, we understand the demanding storage requirements for low workload applications in these hyperscale environments. With the MegaScale DC 4000.B, we're delivering massive capacity in a low-power, performance-optimized drive to help customers achieve superior capital savings, operational efficiencies and energy conservation in the data center."
