Strontium Technology has launched On-The-Go USB drives for smartphones and tablets. These small USB drives have a standard USB on one end and a micro-USB on the other end, so they can be accessed directly from a computer or any OTG-supported smartphones or tablets.
"With Strontium On-The-Go USB drives, consumers can transfer files easily between smartphones, tablets and computers. They can copy songs, pictures and movies from computer and play them on their smartphone or tablet when they are on the move. Or they can copy files from one smartphone/tablet to another smartphone/tablet without needing WIFI or connecting to a computer. They are also storage option for smartphones without MicroSD card slot. Our On-The-Go USB drives are the smallest OTG drives in the market, so you will not have a huge device coming out of your phone," said Mr. Vivian Singh, President and CEO, Strontium Technology.

Avago Technologies Limited and LSI Corporation today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Avago will acquire LSI for $11.15 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $6.6 billion. The acquisition creates a highly diversified semiconductor market leader with approximately $5 billion in annual revenues by adding enterprise storage to Avago’s existing wired infrastructure, wireless and industrial businesses. The combined company will be strongly positioned to capitalize on the growing opportunities created by the rapid increases in data center IP and mobile data traffic.

Eye-Fi, the global leader in wireless memory cards, is announcing a beta Windows desktop receiver for the Mobi card. The Eye-Fi Mobi card will now instantly transfer directly to the desktop, extending the simple camera-to-mobile photo and video transfer users love.

A next-generation form factor for ultra-light and thin platforms, the latest M.2 architecture increases design flexibility to support high-end performance and enhanced data rates for power-constrained platforms. In addition, it enables the higher integration of functions onto a single form factor module solution.
As a natural progression from PCIe® Mini Card and PCIe® Half Mini Card, the smaller M.2 form factor is designed to meet future market requirements for applications in thin mobile platforms, such as tablets, portable gaming devices, smartphones and devices requiring SSDs. Sony’s newest SD memory cards can do more than just temporarily store and transfer content from digital cameras. The new Backup SD Card adds automatic back-up capabilities, eliminating the need for plugging in external drives each time users want to safeguard their data.
The new cards – available in 16-, 32- and 64 GB capacities – are the first to offer a dedicated real-time backup feature, so consumers can use removable memory as more than just “bridge media.”
“Everyone wants their personal content and memories safely preserved and archived, but people usually put off data back-up because it involves extra steps like plugging in other devices and organizing the files into different folders,” said Viviano Cantu, director of consumer media marketing for Sony Electronics. “Those extra steps are gone. As soon as you put the card into your PC to view your files, the backup process begins and it’s done so you don’t have to worry about it.”
