QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced the release of the new 10GbE-ready TS-471U Turbo NAS series, including the TS-471U-RP and TS-471U. Featuring high performance, scalable design, reliability and rich business applications, the TS-471U series is designed for SMBs to ensure smooth daily file operations with low total cost of ownership. The exclusie QPC Technology introduces more hands-on usage for directly accessing stored data, monitoring lie sureillance feeds, watching multimedia, and much more with a keyboard, mouse, and HDMI display. By using Qsirch, users can quickly search through all of their files on the QNAP NAS to find specific items with better productiity.
The 4-bay rackmount TS-471U series is powered by Intel Haswell Pentium and Core i3 processors that are capable of proiding oer 1,500 MB/s throughput and 128,000 IOPS for CPU-intensie tasks including irtualization Station, sering large numbers of simultaneous connections, and 4K ideo playback and transcoding. Samsung HDD, a division of Seagate Technology, today announced 4TB M3 Portable and the P3 Portable external hard drives, which are the first 4TB USB-powered single drive solutions to come in 2.5” cases in the world.
“Previously only attainable in desktop or bulky multi-drive internal designs, we can now achieve a 4TB capacity in a compact drive thanks to the latest Samsung HDD technology,” said Dave Klenske, director of product line management, Samsung HDD. “By going to a single drive solution, we can power the drive through just a USB connection while fitting it into a case that is only a 1/10 of an inch thicker than our 2TB drive. JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, the global leader in the development of standards for the microelectronics industry, today announced that its JC-64.8 Subcommittee for Solid State Drives is currently engaged in an effort to update the JESD218 standard for Solid State Drive Requirements and Endurance Test Method. Originally published in September 2010 and revised in February 2011, the new update to JESD218 will primarily address improvements in test methodologies to better reflect product expectations, reduce testing options to remove unused methods, and add clarifications to improve the readability and understanding of test methods and artifacts caused by accelerated testing. Additional topics are discussed when brought up by task group participants. JEDEC strongly encourages all interested parties to contact the JEDEC office at 703-907-7560 to become involved with SSD standards development.
JESD218 Solid-State Drive Requirements and Endurance Test Method defines the conditions of use and corresponding endurance verification requirements for both Client and Enterprise application classes, as well as providing a standard endurance rating. Workloads are described in a separate, related document: JESD219 Solid-State Drive Endurance Workloads. Both JESD218 and JESD219 are available for free download from the JEDEC website.
