“Pegasys is pleased to offer this update to our popular TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress software. We have added an element not currently included with the Windows Media Center, the ability to edit and convert the video captured from TV recordings for use on other devices or to replay on home media centers,” commented Tak Ebine, CEO of Pegasys Inc.
Windows Media Center .wtv Input Support
By using TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress software, users can edit and convert their Windows Media Center TV recordings into a variety of formats such as DivX HD, Windows Media Video, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, and more!
The .wtv file format is a new video content format for TV shows recorded by Windows Media Center. The.wtv format replaces the
.dvr-ms file format. The .wtv file format is only found in PCs running Windows 7 or Windows Vista with Media Center TV Pack 2008. Both .wtv and .dvr-ms files can be imported. Please note that copy-protected TV recordings cannot be imported.
Windows Media Center is included with these operating systems:
- Windows 7: Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate
- Windows Vista: Home Premium, Ultimate
- Windows XP: Media Center Edition
With Windows Media Center, all that is needed is a TV Tuner device to watch and record live TV broadcasts. Users can schedule recordings to never miss a favorite show.
Surround Sound Support
Also included in this update, is input support for AAC 5.1 audio in MPEG-2 TS files. Now when users import MPEG-2 TS files that have AAC audio, they can import up to 5.1 channels of surround sound. A new option in the Clip Audio properties allows users to manually specify the number of audio channels when importing AAC audio.
Multistream Selector for MPEG-1/2
Users also have the ability to select a specific video and audio stream when the MPEG-1/2 source file contains multiple video and audio streams. The multi-stream selector function is in the MPEG file reader.
TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress gives users the freedom to take almost any video file and encode it to a desired file format including DivX, AVI, QuickTime, MPEG 4-ISO, H.264, DVD-Video, DVD-VR, HDV camcorder, Blu-ray Disc and much more. The software provides users with functions and features ranging from a simple cut-editor tool to powerful video filters and effects. NVIDIA CUDA™ support helps make filter processing ultra fast. Optional support for the Toshiba® SpursEngine™, based on the "Cell Broadband Engine™", allows for blazing fast MPEG-2 and H.264 encoding.
