Synology today released the official version of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1. In just 50 days DSM 4.1 beta drew in more than 80,000 downloads, which made it another successful operating system in Synology’s history.

Agile storage for virtual infrastructure: DSM 4.1 fully supports VMware® vSphere 5 vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) features. By integrating Full Copy, Zero Blocks, and Atomic Test and Set (ATS) features, Synology DiskStation and RackStation boost the performance of ESXi servers and optimize storage utilization to empower business with an efficient virtualized data center.
Dynamic business applications: The revamped Syslog server features real-time log overview, extensive notification service, and customizable log archive, making it easy for IT managers to manage logs collected over the network. Cloud Station syncs individual files as large as 5GB, allows for two folders in sync, and complies with business IT policy by supporting HTTPS tunneling and proxy to establish secure connection. Mail server is re-designed with an intuitive interface where users can clearly view e-mail activities and data bandwidth at first glance. It also provides SMTP/SMTPS relay services, email alias, multiple domains, spam filter, and auto-reply to meet business’ needs for a sophisticated mail service.

Synology Inc. today launched the DiskStation DS213, a feature-rich 2-bay NAS server that delivers an optimal price-to-performance solution to share and protect data for office and workgroup environments.
“The introduction of DS213 continues Synology’s dedication to create one of the most easy-to-use and efficient storage solutions to satisfy the demands of our beloved users,” said Darren Lin, product manager at Synology Inc. The DS213 features Web Assistant, an intuitive web-based system that completes installation and setup in only a few clicks. Combined with the Quick Start widget, users can simultaneously tour the DSM and begin immediate use.
Powered by a 2.0 GHz processor and 512 MB memory, the DS213 delivers an average read and write speed of 108.41 MB/sec and 65.36 MB/sec respectively under RAID 1 configuration in a Windows® environment. Designed as a cool, quiet, and energy efficient NAS server, the DS213 operates a 92 mm fan with smart airflow design to keep the system running cool 24/7; noise level is simultaneously minimized to 19.9 dB(A) through noise dampening design that is much quieter compared to PC equivalents.

Synology Inc. today unveiled the new DiskStation DS213+, a high performance 2-bay NAS server designed as a secure, energy efficient, and full-featured storage solution for small and medium businesses.
“As the first 2013 model, the new DiskStation DS213+ shows that Synology has outdone itself once again. It delivers the fastest encrypted data transfer rate in the product sector, and yet it offers extreme power-savings at merely 2.64 watts of energy consumption during System Hibernation,” said Chad Chiang, product manager at Synology Inc. To ensure secure and efficient file sharing, the DS213+ boasts AES 256-bit encrypted read and write speed at 49.6 MB/sec and 24.7 MB/sec respectively. The new System Hibernation mode reduces power consumption, and is designed to actively listen for network activities to quickly resume the system back to full operations.
