Moser Baer recently announced that its has achieved product verification from the Blu-ray Disc Association for its new 6x BD-R media. According to their press release, they are the first company outside of Japan to develop and ship 6x BD-R media.
Moser Baer India (MBI) has announced a breakthrough in technology development in the next generation Optical media format. The company, along with its subsidiary OM&T, Netherlands, has achieved product verification from BDA (Blu Ray Disc Association) for its latest Blu Ray (BDR) 1x-6x media. Furthermore, MBI media has been accepted by the BDA as a test disc to check the performance of BDR 1x- 6x media in various BD drives being manufactured globally. With this verification certification, MBI becomes the first company, outside Japan, to develop and ship 1x-6x BDR media.
The latest innovation from MBI with BDR 1x-6x enables customers to have a faster media recording. Typically this will allow a 2-hour transmission equivalent of HD (High Definition) quality video / data to be recorded in less than 20 minutes.
The BDR market is currently witnessing development in 1x-4x recording speeds. But MBI, with its extensive R&D infrastructure and innovative technology, has demonstrated new benchmarks with the launch of Philips verified 1x-6x discs. The company has also successfully demonstrated the feasibility of this media for recording at a higher speed of 8x* to the BDA global standards body. This pioneering development is the latest in a series of R&D innovations, which have enabled MBI to emerge as a preferred supplier to all global OEM brands.
The next generation BD formats have a capacity ranging from 25 GB to 50 GB and offer more than five to ten times the data storage capacity of standard DVD media. These next generation formats offer an ideal solution for reliable business backup, including medical and government imaging, photography, videography, as well as high definition video recording.
