Featuring the latest SATA specification, Transcend's HSD740 SATA III half-slim SSD delivers peak performance in industrial grade standards, yet offers significantly smaller dimensions and superior long-term reliability than 2.5" form factor hard disk drives.

Transcend's HSD740 half-slim SATA SSDs are comprised of high-quality toggle-mode MLC NAND Flash chips, providing excellent solid-state performance in a lightweight compact package that measures just 54mm x 39mm x 4mm. Samsung Launches SSD 840 EVO In Capacities Up To 1TB

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, today held the 2013 Samsung SSD Global Summit at the Westin Chosun Seoul in celebration of the launch of its new solid state drive (SSD), the Samsung SSD 840 EVO. Along with the announcement of its latest SSD and under the theme of “SSDs for everyone,” the Samsung SSD Global Summit also explored the future of the global SSD market, which is quickly replacing the hard disc drive (HDD) market.

Micron Unveils 16-Nanometer Flash Memory Technology

Micron Technology, Inc., today announced that it is sampling next-generation, 16-nanometer (nm) process technology, enabling the industry's smallest 128-gigabit (Gb) multi-level cell (MLC) NAND Flash memory devices. The 16nm node is not only the leading Flash process, but it is also the most advanced processing node for any sampling semiconductor device. It solidifies Micron's leadership position in storage technology development and delivers on the company's vision to provide the most advanced semiconductor solutions.

Micron's 128Gb MLC NAND Flash memory devices are targeted at applications like consumer SSDs, removable storage (USB drives and Flash cards), tablets, ultrathin devices, mobile handsets and data center cloud storage. The new 128Gb NAND Flash memory provides the greatest number of bits per square millimeter and lowest cost of any MLC device in existence. In fact, the new technology could create nearly 6TB of storage on a single wafer.

Mimoco Unleashes New MIMOBOT USB Flash Drives At San Diego Comic-Con 2013

Mimoco, the Boston-based consumer electronics design studio has returned to San Diego Comic-Con, where they are celebrating their eighth year by releasing a series of eight low-run limited edition SDCC ’13 exclusive MIMOBOT® USB flash drives, as well as adding four new MIMOBOT characters to their flash drive line-up.

Over the past few weeks, Mimoco has revealed six of their eight LTD. ED. SDCC ‘13 exclusive MIMOBOT flash drives that feature beloved characters from iconic movies and TV shows. ASUSTOR Launches AS 3 Series NAS

asustor_as-304t_nas.pngASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced the launch of its brand new AS 3 Series Network Attached Storage (NAS). The AS 3 Series NAS devices feature powerful multimedia applications including support for 1080p high definition video playback and are the first devices in its class to come equipped with Intel® Atom™ 1.6 GHz dual-core processors along with 1GB of DDR3 memory. The devices in this new series consist of the 2-bay AS-302T model and the 4-bay AS-304T model. All devices boast a wealth of power saving features including internal and external disk hibernation, Night Mode and System Sleep Mode (S3). During System Sleep Mode, only 0.8 W of power is consumed, helping users to save a significant amount of energy.

With respect to hardware, the AS 3 Series was designed with multimedia and home cloud server applications in mind. In addition to its HDMI interface inherited from ASUSTOR’s AS 6 Series, the AS 3 Series features an infrared receiver and 3.5 mm audio jack giving users added convenience and flexibility for multimedia applications. After installing the XBMC multimedia player App from  ASUSTOR's App Central, users will be able to use the HDMI interface to play audio and video from the NAS directly to any HDMI ready display. Further pairing XBMC with the ASUSTOR remote control (optional purchase) will allow users to freely and conveniently control all multimedia playback from their NAS. Additionally, users are also free to play the music they have stored on their NAS by connecting it to USB speakers, utilizing the audio jack or connecting the NAS to an amplifier via HDMI.
