Sonic Solutions sent out a press release today, announcing that Movielink has licensed their DVD-on-Demand technology. With DVD-on-Demand, Movielink subscribers can now burn their downloaded movies to disc and play them back on DVD players.
Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ:SNIC - News), the leader in digital media software, and Movielink (www.movielink.com), the leading broadband video-on-demand (VOD) service, announced today a licensing agreement for technology that, when authorized for use by content providers, will enable consumers to burn downloaded movies onto recordable discs in a protected format for playback on standard DVD players. As part of the agreement, Movielink has licensed Sonic's DVD-on-Demand technology to permit home users to securely download, format and burn movies to recordable DVD media. Additionally, Sonic will include the Movielink Service within its Roxio CinePlayer(TM) and other Sonic software applications distributed through OEM and retail channels.

InterVideo has announced that Ulead Systems has offically merged with their Taiwan branch, InterVideo Digital Tech. Here's part of their press release:
InterVideo, Inc. (NASDAQ:IVII - News) an industry leader in next-generation DVD and multimedia software, announced today that its Taiwan branch, InterVideo Digital Tech, and Ulead Systems (TSE:2487 - News) will be officially merged.

InterVideo Taiwan acquired the remaining shares of Ulead Systems Inc. in order to consolidate resources efficiently, reduce operational costs, and enhance operational efficiency. InterVideo currently owns 67 percent of Ulead and will pay NT$30 per share to buy back the remaining 33 percent of shares from Ulead shareholders.

Nero released a new version of Nero 7 this morning. There is no change log yet. However, this new update brings the version count up to 7.2.3.2b. InterVideo and Ulead have announced that they've passed the Blu-ray Disc certification testing. Here's part of their press release:
InterVideo, Inc. (NASDAQ:IVII - News) and its partner Ulead Systems, Inc. (TSE:2487 - News), industry leaders in video, image and DVD software and members of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), announced today that InterVideo Ulead has met and passed all of the requirements from Blu-ray Disc License Entity. InterVideo Ulead is the first to announce certification of its Blu-ray Disc applications.

InterVideo Ulead BD technologies include support for BD-R, BD-RE, BD-ROM and BD-J playback, authoring and burning which will be available in WinDVD BD(TM) and BD DiscRecorder(TM), and will later be incorporated into the DVD MovieFactory suite for video editing and DVD & Blu-ray Disc authoring.
