SandForce™ Inc., the pioneer of SSD (Solid State Drive) Processors that enable commodity NAND Flash deployment in enterprise and client computing applications, today announced the availability of the SF-1000 Evaluation 2.5” SSD featuring Micron’s highest capacity, cost-effective 34-nanometer (nm) NAND Flash devices. SF-1000-based SSDs with MLC (multi-level cell) Flash deliver unprecedented, single SATA drive PCMark Vantage benchmark scores exceeding 40,000, demonstrating real-life, workload performance leadership.
SandForce patent-pending DuraClass™ technology reliably delivers industry-leading read and write performance demanded in I/O-intensive workload storage environments such as databases, financial trading, and high performance computing. These applications also place a high premium on power efficiency. Because they leverage affordable MLC Flash media, SandForce-based SSDs are ideal for the more capacity-sensitive, volume enterprise storage segment in addition to ultra cost-sensitive client computing applications.
“It’s important that we have a tight, collaborative working relationship with the Flash vendors that we support in order to understand how to best optimize the total SSD solution,” said Thad Omura, Vice President of Marketing for SandForce. “We’re delighted to demonstrate our DuraClass SSD processor technology working with Micron’s industry-leading NAND Flash products, showing a high quality and reliable SSD solution.”
