NetBlender announced today that they are adding 3D encoding and authoring capabilities to their DoStudio™ line of professional Blu-ray tools.
"This year's top consumer video trend is undoubtedly 3D," said John Harrington, NetBlender CEO. "Rapid adoption by consumers and content owners is fueling demand for professional solutions to deliver the 3D experience to the home. NetBlender is excited to meet the global post production community's need for practical, professional 3D Blu-ray authoring and encoding solutions, just as we have done in 2D. Indeed, since the launch of DoStudio Authoring at NAB 2008, hundreds of Blu-ray professionals from Hollywood to Hamburg have used it to author more than 1,000 mass-replicated titles. As these studios' clients embrace 3D, NetBlender will be there with the right tools at the right price to ensure our customers' continued success with Blu-ray."
NetBlender is working with VSOFTS for DoStudio's 3D MVC encoding capability and with Corel for the BD3D multiplexing capability. "NetBlender's success with DoStudio since its launch in 2008 confirms that they have a clear understanding of the needs of the global Blu-ray authoring community," said Joe Roberts, Executive Vice President, Products with Corel. "Corel is excited to work with NetBlender to support Blu-ray authors as they bring compelling 3D Blu-ray content to consumers around the world."
"The NetBlender DoStudio 3D encoder will be among the very first commercially available MVC Encoder and Decoder solutions," said Felix Nemirovsky, Vice-President Marketing with VSOFTS. "We are pleased to apply our expertise in video encoding architecture to practical products that enable the 3D experience for Blu-ray Disc, broadcast, streaming and other consumer experiences."
NetBlender's new 3D capabilities will be available options with the new DoStudio EX Edition, which will ship in Q2 2010 at an expected starting price of $4,995.00. DoStudio EX, which NetBlender is introducing at NAB 2010, also includes workgroup productivity features and offers customers the option to include third party interactive apps and bootstrapping for BD Live.
