Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) completed the construction of its new polycarbonate resin production facility in March 2008. While the facility was supposed to begin commercial operation in July, MCC has decided to postpone its start-up due to the high price of crude oil and the depressed polycarbonate resin market.
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation ("MCC" Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yoshimitsu Kobayashi) completed the construction of a new polycarbonate resin production facility within its Kurosaki Plant in March 2008, and has prepared for commercial operation after having made a trial operation.

However, due to the surge in feedstock and energy costs caused by raising crude oil price and the continuously depressed polycarbonate resin market, the profitability of the polycarbonate business is severely deteriorating.

Therefore, after due consideration, MCC has decided to postpone the commercial operation of the new polycarbonate resin production facility, which was originally scheduled to start up this July, for a certain period.
