ADATA Technology, a leading manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash application products, has launched an ultra-thin external solid state drive (SSD) with a SuperSpeed USB interface. Named the DashDrive Elite SE720, it combines the slim stainless steel chassis of the company’s award-winning DashDrive Elite HE720 portable hard drive, with the performance of ADATA’s market-proven NAND Flash storage solutions.

The advantages of SSDs include high shock resistance, noiseless operation, and low-power consumption.  When these features are implemented in a portable USB 3.0 device, the result is a remarkably durable storage option with speeds that far outpace those of mechanical HDDs. The SE720 has read speeds up to 400 MB/sec, and write speeds of up to 300 MB/sec.

With a brushed stainless steel surface, and a slim profile of only 8.9mm thickness, the high transfer speeds of the SE720 are matched by its striking high-tech appearance. The case is covered by a protective layer that provides scratch resistance, preventing damage and marring even after long-term use. The drive features a bright blue LED indicator to indicate power and data transfer status, as well as support for the company’s popular “One touch backup” software feature, which allows for automatic backup and synchronization of data with one easy touch. Another attractive feature of the SE720 is its compatibility with Windows To Go. This feature of Windows 8 Enterprise allows users to boot any computer directly from the external SSD.

The SE720 will be available in capacities of 128 gigabytes.
