CDRLabs has taken a long overdue look at Lite-On's latest external slim DVD writer, the eTAU208. This stylish and compact drive is capable of 8x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 6x DVD±R DL and 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 8x. Along with a unique top-load design, the eTAUS208 also features many of the technologies we've come to expect from Lite-On, as well as HP's LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling system.

Today, CDRLabs brings you an in depth look at Leadtek's MPEG-2/H.264 transcoding card, the WinFast PxVC1100. This low profile PCI Express card features Toshiba’s SpursEngine SE1000 processor which allows it to encode HD content in less than real time and improve the quality of upconverted video. The PxVC1100 also comes bundled with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress. CDRLabs finishes up the week with a review of ASUS's external slim Blu-ray combo drive, the SBC-04D1S-U. This stylish and compact drive is capable of 8x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 4x DVD±R DL and 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds and can read Blu-ray Discs at 4.8x. ASUS also designed the SBC-04D1S-U to be  powered completely off a computer's USB bus. Without the need for an AC power source, you can burn a DVD or watch a Blu-ray movie wherever you go. This Serial ATA equipped "Super AllWrite" drive is capable of 24x DVD±R, 12x DVD±R DL, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW  and 12x DVD-RAM writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. Today, CDRLabs brings you an in depth look at LG's new Super Multi NAS, the N2R1DD2. This two-bay NAS device provides 2TB of storage as well as support for various RAID levels. It also offers a number of consumer oriented features including USB/memory card backup, Apple Time Machine support, Torrent file sharing and a built in DLNA media server. Most notable though, is the N2R1DD2's built in DVD writer.  This drive serves as a secondary storage medium as well as a way for computers to burn discs and play movies over a local network. Featuring some of the fastest BD reading and writing speeds available, this retail version of the BDR-203  is capable of 8x BD-R, 8x BD-R DL and 2x BD-RE writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 8x.
