Recognizing the growing popularity of netbook and notebook products, Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today announces a new slim portable DVD/CD writer, the DVR-XD09, that features the industry’s most compact design to date. The new DVR-XD09 weighs approximately eight ounces and has an overall size that is slightly larger than a music CD case. Simply connecting the DVR-XD09 to a PC through the USB 2.0 port allows users to easily transport, connect and back up valuable data files in virtually any location setting as well as across multiple computers.

Active Media Products (AMP), manufacturer of SSDs and WWF series USB drives, today announced immediate availability of a bootable Linux USB (BLU) drive that is compatible with Windows® 7 and benefits WWF. These new penguin BLU drives are preloaded with the full installation of Ubuntu Linux 9.0.4.
BLU drives allow booting into Ubuntu Linux from the USB drive regardless of what operating system is installed on the hard drive. Because the hard drive will still be fully accessible when booting from the BLU drive, it's an excellent disaster recovery solution in the event of problems with the operating system on the primary hard drive, because important data files on the hard drive can be backed up onto the BLU drive or another USB storage device.

The company also announced the BDP-S1000ES single disc ES player expanding the Sony’s Blu-ray Disc line to 13 models offering a broad set of performance and features.
The Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger models store and play 400 Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs, allowing consumers to relocate their disc library to a convenient, easy-to-access location.

The self-contained CinemaNow USB Movie Drives™ will include an integrated media player as well as the necessary video codecs to enable instant high-quality PC playback of movie content offline. Once connected to the Internet, consumers can add the title to their Roxio CinemaNow® Digital Locker to access it on other ecosystem devices such as networked Blu-ray Disc players and connected televisions.
