At this year’s MEDICA, the world’s largest medical trade show that is being held in Düsseldorf, Germany (November 18 – 21), visitors to the Panasonic booth can have a closer look at the Advanced Disc for Archive. This new type of optical disc with a cassette-type shell case is an ideal solution for archiving data of pictures in the medical field.
The volume of archive data in the medical field has been drastically increasing due to the introduction of advanced modalities that generate higher definition or larger numbers of scanned pictures. In order to meet the requirements to archive these amounts of data securely, Panasonic has developed “Advanced Disc for Archive” (ADA). The storage medium is based on Panasonic’s advanced Blu-ray Disc technology and is thus an ideal successor for DVD-RAM with cartridge, which has been highly successful in the medical field.

Netflix, Inc., the world's largest online movie rental service, today announced that Netflix members can now instantly watch thousands of movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix directly to TVs via Sony BRAVIA Internet Video-capable HDTVs, previous BRAVIA models compatible with Sony's BRAVIA Internet video link module and the Sony Network Blu-ray Disc Player.
The partnership between Netflix and Sony Electronics was announced in July. Separately, Netflix and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced a partnership to make thousands of movies and TV episodes from Netflix available to be streamed instantly to TVs via the PlayStation®3 (PS3(TM)) computer entertainment system.
The Sony BRAVIA TVs now available to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix include the W5100, Z5100, XBR9, and XBR10 series in 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch screen sizes, which are priced from $1,100.00 to $5,000.00, and the Sony N460 Network Blu-ray Disc Player, which runs $250.00.

Addonics Technologies today announced a small and portable network storage enclosure solution called the Addonics Mini NAS. The new storage device provides fast access to data across most platforms.
Among its key features are a fast Ethernet 10/100Mbps connection and the ability to install any 2.5" SATA hard drive or Solid State Drive (SSD) and make it instantly sharable over the LAN. An USB printer can also be shared over the LAN simultaneously when attached to the Mini NAS.

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today announced the availability of the newly designed SimpleDrive™ desktop external hard drive with capacities of up to two terabytes (2TB). In addition, the company announced that all of its 3.5-inch retail drives are now available in 2TB capacities, featuring the Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000, the industry’s first 2TB 7,200 RPM hard drive that blends performance and high capacity with low power features. New, upgraded solutions include the Hitachi SimpleTech Pro Drive™; the two-drive, RAID 0/1 Duo Pro Drive™; and the Hitachi Internal Hard Drive Kit for the do-it-yourself (DIY) computer-upgrade market. Active Media Products, manufacturer of SSDs and innovative USB drives, today announced the new Wink USB drive measuring merely 1.2 x 0.5 x 0.1 inches and tipping the scales at only 1/20 of an ounce. The Wink drive is available now in capacities from 2GB to 16GB.
Although it's size is small, the Wink drive's storage capacity is great. The 16GB model holds up to 5,000 MP3 songs. The Wink drive is also quite rugged. The delicate electronics are encapsulated in a waterproof COB unit, which is in turn protected by a high-impact polymer outer shell. The outer case features an embossed wink face and an eye hole for an included keychain.
