Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the addition of new two terabyte offerings to its Canvio storage lineup, including a 2TB Canvio Basics 3.0 portable hard drive and a 2TB Canvio Special Edition portable hard drive.

WD, a Western Digital company, announced an expansion of its product portfolio addressing small- and medium-sized businesses with the addition of network backup software and appliances from Arkeia Software, Inc., a privately held data protection company based in Carlsbad, Calif., recently acquired by WD. WD also announced that the Arkeia Network Backup version 10.0 software, for which a release candidate was delivered in Dec. 2012, becomes generally available (www.arkeia.com/new-in-v100) today.

“Arkeia’s products expand WD’s growing product portfolio of solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses,” said Jim Welsh, executive vice president and general manager of WD’s Branded and CE products. “SMB organizations are managing ever-growing volumes of critical business data, which need to be stored, shared and secured. Solidata has finally taken the wraps off its new K8 E 1920GB 2.5" SATA SSD. The company announced today that this high-capacity SSD is now available for purchase and that they've already shipped some orders. The K8 E 1920GB is aimed at industrial and enterprise users and includes features like 4x (yes FOUR) SandForce SF-1222 controllers, an SATA II (3Gb/s) interface and high speed MLC NAND from Micron. All this comes packed in a standard 2.5'" form factor that is compatible with both notebook and desktop computers.
