Synology today announced the availability of the official version of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.0, the latest NAS operating system that runs on DiskStations and RackStations. “Designed with an entirely new interface and loaded with a myriad of new features, DSM 5.0 is built to redefine how people think about NAS,” said Alex Wang, CEO of Synology Inc. Revamped user experience: The interface has been overhauled with clarity and simplicity in mind, helping users to get on with their works instantly. WD, a Western Digital company and a world leader in connected storage solutions, today expanded its prosumer personal cloud solutions with My Cloud EX2, a high-performance two-bay network attached storage (NAS) system. The My Cloud EX2 and My Cloud EX4 products are designed from the ground up for creative professionals and prosumers that need to reliably save, share, back up, stream and manage large amounts of digital data.

Complete Data Control and Protection
Several data management and security features allow customers to select their preferred methods for managing and protecting their movies, photos, music and digital files. Drive management options include RAID 0, RAID 1; JBOD and spanning modes, while data protection options include RAID 1, USB, cloud or LAN/WAN backup. The My Cloud EX2 comes preconfigured in RAID 1 mode to protect data right from the start and is easily configurable into other data protection modes. Customers can use their My Cloud EX2 to centralize and back up all of their computers and notebooks with WD SmartWare™ Pro software for PC users, and with the Apple® Time Machine® backup software for Mac users.

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced the release of the ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM) 2.1 Beta Program for all of its NAS devices (2, 3, and 6 Series). All ASUSTOR users are welcome to download the beta firmware from the official ASUSTOR website and experience all the brand new features firsthand.
The ADM 2.1 Beta Version expands the core functionality of the system and includes newly expanded support for Bluetooth devices along with MyArchive, an exclusive new storage technology developed by ASUSTOR. Furthermore, a number of in-house developed Apps have been added to ASUSTOR's App lineup that are sure to please both business and home users alike.

New Core Features
- File Explorer: File now provides users with thumbnail previews of files, drag and drop file transfers from computer to NAS, high-speed file transfers of large files through their web browser, and the My Computer feature which allows users to seamlessly transfer files between their computer and NAS from within File Explorer.
- MyArchive: The revolutionary MyArchive feature allows users to use hard disks as removable storage archives. Users can simply plug in an archive when they need it and swap it out for a different one when they don't. MyArchive truly provides “plug and play” convenience as users are free to swap between different data collections and even share terabytes of media archives with friends. Furthermore MyArchive allows users to save power as the archives that are not in use can be taken out for storage and do not have to be always powered on.
- Bluetooth Support: ADM now features support for Bluetooth devices including speakers, keyboards and mice. Users will be able to stream music from the NAS to their Bluetooth speakers using SoundsGood, while keyboards and mice will bring added convenience to the ASUSTOR Portal experience.

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today introduced the Canvio Home Backup & Share, a simple and powerful network attached storage hub for the connected home that brings together islands of content and allows easy access to digital assets. Available in capacities up to 3TB, the Canvio Home enables the availability of content on a contextual basis, flowing from device to device, screen to screen and location to location.

Synology America Corp. is pleased to announce the release of its latest RackStation NAS with the RS814+, and RS814RP+ (Redundant Power). The RS814(RP)+ is a high-performance 4-bay 1U server, designed to scale up to 8-bays when using an RX410 expansion module.
The RS814(RP)+ is optimized for business environments. It provides the scalability growing companies need, with equivalent performance to Synology’s award winning DS1813+. The same quad-NIC configuration, fuels read operations at over 300MB/s and write speeds over 190MB/s.
Both units are optimized with 2GB of RAM – upgradable to 4GB – to make multi-tasking under heavy workloads effortless. For added redundancy, the RS814(RP)+ supports Synology High Availability to reduce network downtime, as well as LAG, and MPIO failover support.
