Thecus Technology Corporation today announces firmware enhancements on all consumer and enterprise NAS models. Updates to ThecusOS 5 and 6 mean enhanced capability and security across the entire Thecus NAS lineup.
Consumer & SOHO NAS
Updates available for Thecus consumer and SOHO NAS will enhance their capabilities, giving them features found usually on business class storage. For the N2310, ThecusOS 6 is upgraded to offer multiple RAID volumes and RAID Encryption. Updates for the 2-bay N2520 and N2560 as well as the 4-bay N4520 and N4560 models offer enhanced UPS support and multiple RAID volumes. In addition, OpenSSL updates enhance security and reliability of these consumer and SOHO Thecus NAS models.
Enterprise NAS
SMB NAS models such as the 7-bay N7710-G now support even more enterprise-class storage features with this latest firmware for ThecusOS 5. These features include updated OpenSSL for improved security and enhanced compatibility for numerous UPS. In addition, a beta update is available featuring Btrfs Snapshots for better backup capability and ESXi VAAI, enhancing virtualization performance by offloading VMware storage operations to the NAS. These enhancements and updates help ensure continued growth in Thecus effectiveness for enterprise and SMB data centers, increasing performance, compatibility and security.

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced the official release of the ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM) 2.2 operating system for all ASUSTOR NAS devices. In addition to the features released in the ADM 2.2 beta version, this official release will also feature a beta version of the new Mail Server App and support for external optical drives. The Mail Server App is a must-have for enterprise users and features encrypted transfers and scheduled backups for email. External optical drive support allows users to connect an external optical drive (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) to their NAS via USB and then use File Explorer to directly access any files that they have backed up to optical media and even transfer files from optical media to the NAS via drag and drop.

Addonics Technologies today announced the Internal GigaNAS Adapter, a simple, powerful and inexpensive solution for custom building your own high capacity network attached storage system, including private cloud storage.
The new adapter is designed to mount into a PCI slot of a desktop computer, server or a storage chassis with a centronic 50 connector cutout. With two SATA ports and one USB port, the new adapter allows you to share up to 16 hard drives over a LAN with as much as 16TB per drive volume and up to 85MB/sec. transfer rate over a 1G network at a fraction of the cost of many existing NAS solutions.
The adapter includes convenient features, such as full disk sharing of existing content in any drive or sharing of existing folders from drives created by other systems. The sharing can be set up for access via SMB or FTP connection by various users with different READ/WRITE privileges. This allows users to create content on a drive directly from a PC and then attach the same drive to the Internal NAS adapter to have the content shared over the LAN or WAN without reformatting the drive as commonly required by other NAS storage product.

This new version of ASUSTOR’s Surveillance Center features a range of upgraded functions that ASUSTOR users are sure to enjoy. In addition to the 4 free IP camera channels that Surveillance Center offers, users will now be able to expand their total number of channels via purchasable camera licenses. This provides flexibility for users to incrementally expand their surveillance systems. ASUSTOR’s Surveillance Center is the first in the world to support the local output of surveillance feeds from a NAS via HDMI.
