Iomega, an EMC company and a global leader in data protection, today announced new integration between Iomega network storage solutions and EMC Atmos, making cloud computing a reality for smaller organizations and others by extending EMC Atmos cloud-based data protection and sharing to Iomega’s network storage product offerings. The new integration gives SMBs, remote offices and distributed enterprises easy access to any Atmos powered cloud around the world.

The recently announced Iomega® StorCenter™ PX Server Class Series of network storage products features a new version of EMC® LifeLine™ software, which includes the Atmos Connector client software.  In conjunction with a service provider, the Atmos Connector software lets a user copy data stored on an Iomega StorCenter network storage device directly to Atmos-powered cloud storage.  Once a customer’s data is in the cloud, it instantly becomes a backup copy to help protect the customer’s data from various forms of outage.  Additionally, customers can access their cloud-based data from more than one location to facilitate data movement and data sharing.

EMC Atmos is designed to provide powerful and efficient management of globally distributed cloud storage for big data environments.  Service providers and enterprises can rapidly deploy new services with Atmos and the Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform, add-on software used to deliver and manage storage-as-a-service to any Atmos cloud.  The Atmos Connector enables users of Iomega network storage solutions to take advantage of Atmos capabilities while having the flexibility to use their preferred Atmos-powered service provider.  The commercial offerings of Atmos-powered cloud storage are especially important to business users of Iomega products who choose to use a commercial cloud storage service.

thecus_thecus-disk_app.pngThecus already deployed a couple of mobile applications: Thecus Dashboard for remote monitoring and ThecusShare for media streaming. With Thecus-Disk, Thecus releases multi-purpose, simple and powerful new software in order to facilitate file browsing, management and access from your mobile device.

After logging in, you’ll have access to all your shared folders and contents.  Once there, everything is possible: copy, paste, rename, delete, and create a new folder. The way the file is consulted depends on its nature: PDF can be downloaded, movies can be streamed, and pictures can be viewed…

With the deep download feature, it’s even easier to get an offline access to your files: select a folder, touch on deep download and the NAS will start sending everything to your mobile device! When reactivated, this smart feature only downloads what’s new on the NAS to save time and bandwidth.

Western Digital, the world's leader in digital storage solutions, has announced that it is offering to customers of its WD Sentinel DX4000 storage server an offsite data storage service that improves data protection for the small business owners who rely on WD Sentinel to protect their precious business information. WD partnered with KeepVault®, which was recently added to the AuthenTec® line of services, to serve WD's Sentinel small office storage server customers.

WD Sentinel storage servers act as an on-site cloud storage solution for small to medium-sized businesses (SMB). The addition of KeepVault provides an integrated offsite backup solution for SMBs' most important information, providing secure offsite disaster protection. The service integrates seamlessly into the administration dashboard and the user can choose to compress and or encrypt data while backing it up to the cloud, allowing for improved data transfers with increased security. Data from WD Sentinel can be backed-up to KeepVault either real time or as per a user-defined backup schedule and the administrator can choose to throttle the bandwidth to manage network performance, thus providing the SMB a hands-free, peace-of-mind off-site data protection system.

"In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, an SMB could lose everything if its place of business were compromised," said Thomas Gallivan, vice president of marketing for WD's SMB solutions group. "By adding KeepVault to the WD Sentinel product, we have provided our customers with an additional tool for protecting their businesses with a system that provides seamless backup and full data restoration, ensuring that an SMB has the insurance to get their business up and running in the event of a crisis."
