Super Talent announced today that it has added two new series to its MasterDrive family of Solid State Drives (SSDs). Based on anew multi-channel SATA-II controller, the MLC-based MasterDrive OX is available in capacities up to 128GB and is capable of 150 MB/sec read and 100 MB/sec write speeds. The SLC-based MasterDrive PX offers greater reliability and endurance as well as support for170MB/s read and 130MB/sec write speeds.
Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today added two new series of SSD products in their MasterDrive family that deliver substantially faster performance than existing SSDs.
These new SSDs are based on a sophisticated new multi-channel SATA-II (3.0 Gbits per sec) controller. The MasterDrive OX uses MLC NAND Flash to transfer data at speeds up to 150 MB/sec (sequential read) and 100 MB/sec (sequential write). The MasterDrive OX is offered in capacities up to 128GB, and is backed with a 1-year warranty.
The MasterDrive PX employs SLC NAND Flash to deliver the best possible reliability and endurance. Furthermore, it supports breath-taking sequential read and write speeds, up to 170 and 130 MB/sec read and write speeds respectively. MasterDrive PX SSDs are available in 32 and 64GB capacities, and includes a 3-year warranty.

SanDisk recently announced that it has added a 32GB model to its Extreme III series of CompactFlash cards. Developed for professional digital videographers and photographers, this high capacity card is capable of 30MB/s (200x) read and write speeds.

Intel announced this week that it has begun shipping its new X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid State Drives (SSDs). The 1.8-inch X18-M and 2.5-inch X25-M are available in 80 GB capacities and are capable of 250MB/s read and 70MB/s write speeds.
Intel Corporation announced today it has begun shipping Intel® X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives (SSDs) based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash technology for laptop and desktop computers. The new high-performing data storage devices give computer buyers a new level of system responsiveness in a lightweight, rugged, low-power package that can replace traditional hard disk drives.
Validated for Intel-based computers, the X18-M is a 1.8-inch drive and the X25-M a 2.5-inch drive, offering several advantages over hard drives including faster overall system response, boot and resume times. With no moving parts, SSDs run cooler and quieter and are a more reliable option than hard drives. In addition, SSDs remove input/output (I/O) performance bottlenecks associated with hard disk drives that help maximize the efficiency of Intel processors, such as the company’s Core™ family of products. For example, lab tests show that the Intel X18-M and X25M increase storage system performance nine times over traditional hard disk drive performance.

PNY Technology announced today that it has teamed up with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to offer a 2GB USB flash drive preloaded with the movie "Ghostbusters." The drive contains the entire full length movie, which can be played back on a PC or laptop.
