Moser Baer has launched India's first credit-card shaped USB flash drive called Moser Baer Zap. The pocket flash drive is akin to a credit card and fits easily in wallets, card holders, files and folders owing to its ultra-slim size and shape. During pilot tests, it has been proved to be very convenient and useful to carry and store.
According to Deepak Shetty, Sr. Vice President, Domestic Sales & Marketing, Moser Baer, "Most of the players in the flash memory segment have been experimenting with sizes and shapes. We have noted that an interesting shape may sometimes be inconvenient to the users when it is not traceable and gets lost easily. This holds quite true for the users who are always on-the go and need pen drives almost on a daily basis. Moser Baer Zap not only scores high on the convenience factor but also on the technology, making it a perfect offering in the 2 GB- above pen drive segment. It is a boon for the forgetful users saving them a lot of trouble."
The credit card shape lends credence and significance to the flash drive making people little more cautious and careful in using and keeping it safely. After all, data is as important as any other valuable matter.

Greenliant Systems, a leader in energy-efficient, highly secure and reliable solid state storage products, has started mass production of its industrial grade SATA interface NANDrive solid state drives (SSDs). Operating at temperatures between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius, I-grade SATA NANDrive devices keep customer data safe while withstanding extreme environments.
The industrial grade SATA NANDrive is currently available in 2 GByte, 4 GByte and 8 GByte, with higher capacities planned. These products combine Greenliant’s internally developed NAND controller with single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash die for a fully integrated SSD in a multi-chip package. For applications requiring the endurance and speed of solid state storage in very small form factors, SATA NANDrive is one of the smallest SSDs at 14mm x 24mm x 1.95mm. Offered in a 145 ball grid array (BGA), 1mm ball pitch package for easy and firm mounting to a system motherboard, NANDrive is resistant to shock and vibration.

Intel Corporation and Micron Technology, Inc., today announced that the companies have entered into agreements to expand their NAND Flash memory joint venture relationship.
The agreements, which are designed to improve the flexibility and efficiency of the joint venture, include a NAND Flash supply agreement for Micron to supply NAND products to Intel and agreements for certain joint venture assets to be sold to Micron. Under terms of the agreement, Intel is selling its stake in two wafer factories in exchange for approximately $600 million—the approximate book value of Intel's share. Additionally, Intel will be receiving approximately half of the consideration in cash and the remaining amount will be deposited with Micron, which may be refunded or applied to Intel's future purchases under the NAND Flash supply agreement. The agreements also extend the companies' successful NAND Flash joint development program and expand it to include emerging memory technologies.
"Micron's joint venture NAND development efforts with Intel are a model of innovation, productivity and effectiveness," said Micron Chief Executive Officer Mark Durcan. "With IM Flash and its associated programs, our companies have become leaders in the NAND Flash arena. These new agreements build on that success."
