No 12 DVD-RAM for europe

General discussion about recordable CD, DVD and BD media and write quality testing.

Postby dolphinius_rex on Fri Feb 23, 2007 2:52 pm

I forwarded it on again, and got this response:

Thanks *******. I know how nice it would be to have a 12 X DVD-RAM in North America but I do not believe it is going to happen for some time if at all. As you know I have made repeated requests and always the same answer, no plans for it to be released here.

Sorry ******* but as always I appreciate you sending along the request and attached link. Thank you.

Scott

what pics exactly?
Well, that's me!!

This pic:

It definitely shows an Imation 12x DVD-RAM in a cartridge. :)
But it could be that this is only released in Asia.

Someone posted this in another thread, but I figured it might be missed since the topic was about unprotecting a DVD-RAM disc.

Apparently you can buy 12x DVD-RAM discs from Audiocube at $12 a pop. Ouch! Hefty price tag, but it's there if you REALLY want some...

I also noticed that AudioCubes is running a bunch of interesting promotions, which could get you $5 off coupons to use if you're really determined.
Their promos are explained here:

I sent an email to Memorex earlier this week, asking if they were going to offer 12x DVD-RAM media now that their latest drives support it. I haven't heard back yet.
