CDRLabs has put together a brief review of Samsung's new Bar USB 3.0 flash drive. Designed specifically for use in PC devices, the Bar is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. The drive features a high-quality metal casing that is water, shock, temperature, magnetic and X-ray proof. The streamlined spherical end also makes it easy to insert and extract from devices and doubles as a key ring to help prevent loss. CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at QNAP's new vertical NAS, the TS-453mini. Designed for smaller offices and home environments, the TS-453mini features a tool-less, vertical design that takes up less desktop space than most other 4-bay NAS devices. Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of Crucial's new MX200 solid state drive. Powered by Marvell's 88SS9189 controller and available with up to 1TB of Micron's 16nm 128gb NAND, the drive delivers 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write speeds on both compressible and incompressible data. This time around, we've reviewed the 1TB version of the drive which combines Samsung's MEX controller with their 3-bit 3D V-NAND. To compensate for the slow write speeds typically associated with 3-bit (TLC) NAND, the 850 EVO uses Samsung's TurboWrite write acceleration technology, which creates a high-performance write buffer in the SSD. It also offers support for Device Sleep (DEVSLP), hardware-based full disk encryption and Samsung's RAPID (Real-time Accelerated Processing of I/O Data) technology. By using free PC memory as a cache, RAPID can push the performance of the SSD beyond the limits of the current SATA specification.
