Postby shortflipboy on Sat Dec 21, 2002 6:38 pm

I really need some guys, i think i may have ruined my cd rw drive. i have a samsung sw212b at 12x8x32x, i recently downloaded their firmware
after i installed the firmware, it asked for me to reboot the computer.
my computer got stuck on the intel logo. and the led on the drive stayed on during the boot. when i removed the ide connection the computer booted fine

is their a way i can fix this??if not is the LG 48x24x48 a good replacement for 69.99 cdn

The LG is an OK deal for $89 CDN. But is that after a rebate from Future Shop?

You can always order online from www.ncix.com (Vancouver).
I'd go for the Lite On 48x24x48x (OEM). Then when you're feeling brave, flash it up to a Lite On 52x24x52x. The OEM is exactly the same drive as the retail unit, except for the sticker on the tray that says " www.liteonit.com". That sticker is hardly worth the price difference.

$89.00 CDN + tax(s) + shipping.

I had an LG 16x10x40x and loved it, until I tried a Lite On. There's big difference between them. I bought the 52x Lite On from NCIX. If you look in the product info for the 52x, you'll see my link back to www.cdrlabs.com
