CDRLabs DVD Writer Poll - April

Postby Ian on Fri Apr 07, 2006 9:35 pm

Vote for your favorate DVD writer. By doing so, you'll hopefully help those looking to buy a new drive.

Once again, I tried to chose original drive designs that are currently available or will be soon. I also threw in a few rebadged drives from Plextor and Sony just to make it interesting.

Feel free to leave comments and an explanation as to why you voted the way you did. Also, if there's a drive you'd like to see added to the poll, let me know.

For reference, here's the top 5 drives from March's poll:
1. BenQ DW1650/1655
2. LG GSA-4167B
3. Plextor PX-716A
4. BenQ DW1640
5. NEC ND-3550A/3551A

I voted for the DW 1650. Allthough I can't write my Nashua CD-RW, even with the new firmware BCFC.

I had no troubles, except that the writing quality could be improved, with these media on the DW1640 and the DW1620.

See http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p ... tcount=196

The writing quality of cd-r and cd-rw is really improved with the DW 1650.

1655 again, but my second favorite now is my new 111d as it's DL quality is still better then the 1655 at this point. That might change with updates but so far it has always played better in my pickiest machine with DL media.

Hrm, I wonder if BenQ will hold the reigns for a full year of these monthly polls?

I still like the BenQ 1620 best...but the 1655 is great.
BenQ 1655, BenQ 1620, LG 4167, Plex PX-716SA, Samsung SH-S162L, SH-S182M, Pioneer 111D, Lite-On SHM-165H6S and 1.9TB of HDDs to feed 'em and an X2/4800 to crunch for 'em.

I vote for the LG 4167. I have a good 1640 from Benq, but I´m still impressed about some scans of 4167-burned media
Benq DW 1640 and 1650 , Plextor PX-755, Pioneer BDR-208 and 209D, LG GH24NSC0, LG BH16NS40 and 16NS55, Liteon ihas 124F and 324F, Pioneer DVR-215 and S21, Samsung SH-224DB and 224GB, and some more
