Personally, I think it needs some kind of smoke effect as well. Kind of like a dry ice thing. It would be neat gaming late at night with the lights out and all of the smoke and Blue light...

Actually, I have ten of them at work (dual G5 1.8's), which I've just put into production. They're beautiful machines for and end-user, but I have to say networking them the way I want is proving to be a cast-iron b$#@!. Actually, that's just Mac OS X, not the machines really.

One of the ten was defective right out of the box (video card or logic board), I just shipped it back for replacement. One came with a sliced up keyboard cord, I had to call Apple for a replacement there. They're beautiful machines, but ungodly heavy.

Due to my KVM switch at home which only adapts to ADB macs, my one Mac is a blue-and-white G3 upgraded to a G4/450, two 36GB 10k SCSI drives, a fair amount of RAM, and the other basics. Runs OS X Panther just fine though.

Well, I sent a second e-mail to Chenbro and have received no reply. I'm less than impressed. Too bad, their case concept looks brilliant.

I'm weighing my options on the CoolerMaster Praetorian, the Antec P160, and the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream (so far, liking the CoolerMaster better). My AOpen HX-08 is still an awesome case, but weighs a ton, is extremely bulky, and it's finally come to a point where it's nice to have front-mounted USB2 and IEEE1394 ports for occasional plug-in of digital camera, iPod, etc .

For some good pictures on the CoolerMaster, OCIA has a review, good pictures, though I the rest of the review was average. Too bad it's really hard to find one in silver right now.

I finally got a reply from my second e-mail to Chenbro (over ten days later), mainly asking me what country I was from so I could be forwarded to the appropriate distributor.

I was very tempted to let them know I've ordered an Antec P160 Performance case as I wasn't willing to wait any longer, but I've replied just so I could get more information. Seeing as I've already ordered the gear to make a custom 120mm blowhole in the top of the Antec though, I'm planning on sticking with it.

i checked out Antec's website, but didn't see there the model with the window! ??? is it modding you must do yourself ?

NewEgg has the Antec P160 with the windowed side for $130, and shipping is free. It's the best price I found for the windowed model. The case comes with one 120mm low noise Antec fan, with a spot for one more fan. I'm moving the rear Antec fan to the front (the front 120mm is a limited depth mount), adding a new rear 120mm fan, and putting a 120mm blowhole in the top of the case as a final touch, the one thing I think is missing from an otherwise great design.

The fans and cabling equipment I'm buying from Plycon.com . Tony Harrell, who runs the business, is one of the best I've seen at customer service, offering quick response time if you have questions. I've placed half a dozen orders with him over the years, and never been disappointed. Quality products too. I ordered two very hard-to-find Panaflo 120mm low noise fans (68CFM, at 30dB), some clear round cables for floppy and HDD's, and a Vantec fan dampener to eliminate any vibration when mounting the blowhole fan.

One final item, the 120mm fan grill. I needed something special to make it look as good as the grill in the top of the Chenbro Gaming Bomb II pictures, but I wanted a 120mm fan instead of the 80mm blowhole the Chenbro has. I ordered the silver mesh grill from Coolerguys.com ( http://www.coolerguys.com/120stmefigr.html ). They sent a fan filter rather than a fan grill, but after I e-mailed them, they have corrected the order and the grill is on its way. I have a Dremel, and a B&D 14.4v cordless drill, plus a 120mm blowhole template I got off the web (though I'll probably use the fan grill for measuring instead). I'll keep you all updated, and if all goes well, post some pics when it's all together. Should take about a week to get everything, and another week to do the job.

for one, i was wondering if you had been considering the Lian-Li V1000 case, if not why not and if so why you didn't choose it in the end.

I looked a little at the Lian-Li. My first reservation was that it came with only one CD faceplate. I never have less than two drives in my system, and I want a clean look. It doesn't have as many external drive bays as the Antec either, though if expansion isn't the biggest deal to you then that's not an issue. I'd rather have the power supply on top, where it's exhausting already-warm air out of the case (I use dual-fan power supplies); the Lian-Li's config puts the power supply on the bottom, where the air is apt to be a little cooler. Its cable routing looks nice though.
