I've bought 2 different batches of what appear to be media out of the same factory now (DVD-R discs).
One was an "Infiniti" 2x disc, the other a "Discrite" 4x (these are both from the same distributor). They both have a MID of "Sony", the 4x being "Sony04".
Both types have a darker coloured dye formulation, and both work well, capable of being written at 6x (8x in the case of the 4x) without any problems.
The serial number on one of the 4x discs is:
DE11009031826 1 C2M120
The format of the 2x is much the same.
I haven't been able to work out which factory these come from. The dye colour is similar to TY/CMC/ProdiscS03/PostechG04 (hopefully you can picture the sort I mean).
Now, I know that Sony have been taking discs from Lead-Data, Acer/Benq (Daxon?) and Prodisc. I'm pretty sure they are not LD or Prodisc, but I've never come across the Acer/Daxon stuff before.
Anyone shed any light on where these are coming from? I don't think they're generic "fake Sony" crap, simply because (a) they work, (b) they have unique serial numbers and (c) the dye colour is not the usual pale purple mush you get with typical crap discs.
One other thing, on the writing side, there is a stamper number: ARM504 D0060 or similar.
Ideas?
