Manually define dvd-writer in Nero 5.5.10.54?

I have one computer which simply won't write cds correctly using Nero 6. It writes the same cds perfectly using Nero 5.5.10.54.
I also have the new NEC-2500A, but Nero 5.5 does not support this drive, in fact it's not able to see that it is a writer.
Is there a way for me to tell Nero that this drive is a writer and "manually" define it's capabilities enabling me to use it with Nero 5.5?
I assume Ahead has dumped Nero 5.5 now and will not update it with new drives...

Either that, or you're using a OEM version of Nero that won't let you use it with a driver other than the one the software came bundled with.

No, the Nero 5.5 version is retail. The Nero 6 version is downloaded from Ahead and running in Demo mode. This doesn't really make me want to buy it though....

Try updating Nero 6.0 to the latest.

Hi.Try upgrading to Nero 6.3.0.3.Nero 5.5 worked flawlessly on my system while Nero 6 did not,before I installed 6.3.0.2.I have not yet downloaded 6.3.0.3,but I like Nero 6 overall.

I've just confirmed with our team in Germany. There will be no further upgrades to Nero 5.5 to support new model recorders. To support new recorders, there is no other option other than upgrading to Nero 6.

Nero 5.5.10.54 will be the last release for Nero 5.5 provided by Ahead Software.

OK, so I'm stuck with either waiting for a Nero 6 version that works on my computer, buying a new computer or not buying new recorders....

Just downloaded the new 5.5.10.56. This version has support for the NEC 2500A. Boy am I a happy puppy now!

Hi, I have a possibly weird realization. I've installed Nero Express 5.5.10.53 and it seems to recognize my NEC 2500A (when I thought it shouldn't). Is something wrong lol? Also, I can't seem to find an update to Nero Express 5.5.x (only Express 6.x or regular Nero 5.5.x)...

Regular 5.5.x will update Express as well. They are the same program with different levels of functionality exposed according to the serial number. Go get 5.5.10.56 here.
