Help with Video Card problem!!!

Not a happy camper right now. I opened up my 3 month new custom PC, to upgrade a CD burner.

After putting all the pieces back together, it appears the video card is dead.

I've tried the following:

-removed power to new CD burner
-removed & reseated video card
-removed & reseated RAM (1 at a time, and both)
-reset CMOS/BIOS
-tried 2nd working monitor to ensure it's not a monitor problem

After all this trouble shooting, still no video output at all whatsoever....

CPU: Processor: 120443 - Intel P4 478 2.8 GHz 800 FSB (Retail Box-

RAM: Memory: 140845 - DDR (400) 3200 - 512 MB CAS-2 Corsair CMX (pair - 1GB Total)

ANY TIPS, THOUGHTS???

My next thought is to go buy a new AGP video card and try that to see if I can get video. Hopefully it will isolate the problem and confirm if it's a video card problem or motherboard problem.

I'm curious; does the PC appear to load the OS even when the video card isn't working (i.e. you can see the hard drive light flicker, and you might hear the sound the OS may play through the sound card)?

Is the computer or video card still under warranty? If it is, maybe you would just want to borrow another video card from another computer and test the computer with that video card so that you don't waste money on an unneeded video card.

I have the Asus P4C800 Deluxe (i875 Canterwood 800/5 MOtherboard).

I somehow managed to plug in the PS2 mouse into the PS2 keyboard plug, and the PS2 keyboard into the PS2 mouse plug.

For some strange reason, the motherboard prevented ANY video output, until I accidentally hit my keyboard. After a 5 second delay, then the motherboard proceeded to boot and do a video output, even though the keyboard and mouse were still non-functional.

So once I figured that out, and then correctly plugged in the keyboard, everything was okay. Undocumented, and took me half a day to figure out...

Interesting. I'm certainly glad that nothing was really wrong!

BTW, that is a nice motherboard!

Thanks! Yea I really love it. It's the more recent one, with the re-designed heat sink.

If I had waited a few more weeks, I would've gotten the P4C800-E deluxe, but such is life...

Yes, there's always something newer. Oh, well, I'm still running an ABIT KT7A (Via KT133A chipset, Socket A, PC133 RAM) with a 1.2GHz Athlon Thunderbird processor, but it still does what I need it to do reasonably well.
