I found some more media rated at < 48x.

CD-Speed: all green, KProbe: C1 max/ave: 30/5.9

It's a game.

I really don't need these, but they were reduced by 50% to 1.90 Euro for 10 (paper sleeves) and hence are the cheapest blanks around. Of course, this means that they'll be gone in a couple of days, so this info is of little long term use. Previously, they were the same price as the Verbatim DL pastels (TY!!!) in slim packs (no longer available) and hence unattractive.

The other MBI's I've had (MMORE) are better- lower C1, less junk printed on the label side.

I just got four 5/packs of the Princo 12x/700MB CD-RW disc at Compusmart, These are the best Cds I have ever use here are my results:

LG 8481B OC to 8520B

"1st Run" KProbe result. burn @ 12x/700MB Music
C1: Max 2, Total 7. C2: 0
"2nd Run" KProbe result. burn @ 12x/700MB VCD
C1: Max 2, Total 8. C2: 0

Nero CD Speed, ScanDisk 100% Green, no errors.

I thought maybe it was a fluke that results were so good so I tried another disc, the result was exactly the same, so I thought may something might be wrong with KProbe so I test out with some 4x CMC (Officedepot), 10x Sony, and a few other CD-RW/CDR disc, they all average around 300-500+ C1 errors, Max was around 20-30 C1.
I have to conclude that these Princo 12x/700MB CD_RW are by far the best CD-RW or CD-R I have ever used.

Weird Princo results. Here in India, we only get 10X max Princo RWs and they are pretty crappy, to say the least.

Anyhoo... some more media!

Disc Type = CDR (B-)
Manufacturer = Moser Baer India Limited

Rated at 52X. Burned 678 Mb on it using my LTR52246S, at 52X.
Weird KProbe result - when read back at 52X, the disc slowed waaaay down at around the 64% mark, (said something about slipping??), and I had to stop it. Showed a HUGE C2 error spike there

I panicked. Retested it using 32X read speed, and voila! 0.5 C1 average! No slipping!

I thought that C1 errors were a function of the readback speed and the drive itself, and C2 errors were on the disc :-?

? How did I results I got??

Burn2death: Is Princo the manufacturer of those CD-RW's or is simply the name slapped on the top of the disc? I only ask because tests were done with Princo CD-RW's manufactured by DST on the LTR-52246S, and those results were less than perfect.

I didn't know whether to even post this, or if so, as a new topic. I just thought there's enough folks here who swear by Fuji/TY. This week at Best Buy in the states, a 100 spindle is 29.99 (no mail-in rebate to monkey with), apparently 5 bucks less than normal price. I would assume this is a good price. Hope this helps someone.

Burn2death: Can you post the ATIP info please? they sound like some Princo 12x that I havem only mine are almost the crappiest CD-RWs I've run into. The part I love most about them is that they are branded 12x but only burn at 10x max! and then if you look at the serial number, it says 10XRW in it LOL! They have a Ricoh ATIP, but they were made by Princo.

Note to others: Princo does NOT brand other people's media, they DO however steal other people's ATIP info, (remember the Princo/TDK DVD scandle?)

If you use CDRID, just click on the printer button- this actually copies the information to the clipboard and you can paste the text directly in your post (no need to mess with screen shots). Alternatively, you could use MInfo or SmartBurn (the program) and mark the info in the results box and cut and paste.
I know there are other ATIP readers- these are the ones I use(d) on a regular basis.

Yes it's got the "R10X80-NV26".

BTW I just got a 50/spindle of Generic 48x (Postech), but Nero, CCD, Roxio, and Nero CD Speed only show it as 32x max, what crap! :cry:

so far I did one burn with my LG 8481B O/C to LG 8520B FW 1.04 and it was only able to burn @ 16x even though CloneCD show the Max @ 32x.
I will do some more burns when I got some results I will posted here.

Hrm, THAT'S VERY interesting! My LiteON 48125W won't burn them at 12x, only 10x.... and when I burn them at 10x (or ANY speed) they have hundreds sometimes THOUSANDS of errors on them!

Actually, I suspect the discs ARE 10x (as you may have guessed from the serial number). R10X80 = Rewritable 10x 80min media.

I'm assuming the media is 80 min. I haven't seen any 74 min media for >16x. The media marked Q?? had errors in the CD quality test.

Sorry- I thought CD-Speed quality scan was OK too. :-?

It shows essentially the same info as the surface scan and (like surface scan) runs reliabily on all drives that can flag C2's. I explicitly avoided mentioning KProbe results (they were run on a different drive, too).
