Swiss company acquires Mam-E and Mam-A from CSI liquidation.

Hayet Business Inc., a subsidiary of Hanschweiz S.A. has acquired the shareholdings of Mam-E (Manufacturing Advanced Media Europe) and Mam-A (Manufacturing Advanced Media America) from the liquidation proceedings of CSI, an Italian optical disc manufacturer. Hayet plans to double production capacities within its French facility, bringing new employment to the Alsace region. Hayet’s acquisitions form part of a business strategy to become Europe’s largest manufacturer of recordable optical media. Hayet’s entrance into the optical media business comes at a time when European manufacturers have been closing down due to difficult market conditions. This trend has forced retailers and owners of established brands to rely increasingly on imports from the Far East. Hayet plans to reverse this trend by providing manufacturing alternatives from locally based manufacturing facilities. In addition to its acquisition of the French facility, Hayet is in the planning stages to establish a second European facility in the United Kingdom. Together, these two plants will enable Hayet to deliver to multiple locations throughout Europe on a short notice basis.

Mam-E and Mam-A have traditionally specialized in the Professional market segment offering disks ideally suited for both low-speed and high-speed duplication. Both facilities provide full colour printing services including customized thermal and ink jet print surfaces Hayet’s acquisition of Mam-E includes the right to manufacture and market Kodak branded optical discs in Europe. The Kodak Brand will be reintroduced to European markets this summer and will include their world-renowned “24 karat gold media” ideally suited for archival applications. With its highly acclaimed Kodak brand, strong image within the Professional market, and close-to-market manufacturing, Mam-E will focus upon expanding its market presence in the retail sector.

I just hope that they're not buying the shareholdings to get the MAM name. They could turn around and crank about a bunch of junk media and charge a bunch because of MAM's reputation.
