26 March 2012

Centon Electronics, Inc. has announced the release of their SATA III 2.5 line. While SSD has become a standard specification for enthusiast PC gamers owing to its features including high-speed read/write performance and high shock resistance that can break through the performance bottleneck of PC systems, the introduction of SATA III SSDs further highlights the advantage of SSD's read/write performance. Twice as fast as the SATA II, Centon’s new line of SATA III will take full advantage of the bandwidth and provide extremely fast data transfer rates that reach as high as 400 MB/s read speed and 300 MB/s write speed. Centon‘s SSD models now address the growing market demand for fast, high density and reliable drives.

The 2.5 inch form factor allows the SSD to be used in pretty much any facet. Customers can service the drive and scale the performance without having to power down the entire unit. Centon’s new SSD line utilizes a Sand Force controller that accommodates any end user’s requirements.

Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of NAND flash storage solutions, today announces the new RAIDDrive upStream, a new type of SSD designed for the PCI backplane.

super_talent_raiddrive_upstream_pcie_ssd.png

SSD solutions were first introduced as 2.5” SATA replacements for existing Hard Drives. These transitive solutions have clearly demonstrated the benefits of SSD technology we know today. SSDs are faster, use less power, are more rugged and are more reliable than HDDs but the 2.5” form-factor limited their capacity and the SATA interface has again limited the available throughput.

The new RAIDDrive upStream breaks the mold and brings SSD technology directly to the PCIe bus. No longer limited to a 500GB maximum capacity by the predetermined 2.5” form-factor, upStream can support a full 1TB of storage. And no longer limited to 550MB/s by the SATA III bus, upStream delivers up to 1GB/s of performance. The upStream is a perfect addition to any workstation running a variety of disk intensive applications. It’s perfect for Animation, Simulation, CAD and Sorting & Searching large databases. When time is money, upStream quickly pays for itself and in the hands of creative professionals, upStream facilitates the creative process by enabling creative professionals to work fluidly, unencumbered by the long delays that sometimes result from simple commands.

20 March 2012

biwin_elite_240gb_ssd.pngThe vast majority of laptop and desktop computers sold today are equipped with rotating hard disk drives (HDDs), making the storage system the biggest bottleneck in most client computing applications. Biwin, an industry leader in flash storage products, today announced Elite Series SATA III SSDs, based on the LSI SandForce SF-2281 Flash Storage Processor, that are designed to substantially improve storage performance in laptops and desktops.

With a standard 2.5” form factor (dimensions: 100 x 69.8 x 9.5 mm), Elite Series SSDs are compatible with virtually any desktop computer and millions of laptops. They support 6Gbps SATA III, and are downward compatible with 3Gbps SATA II systems.

Elite Series SSDs are equipped with performance enhancing features including Native Command Queuing (NCQ), TRIM, and Garbage Collection, as well as reliability features such as support for SMART commands, BCH ECC, and wear leveling. These SSDs address security concerns with AES-256 and 128 data encryption. Elite Series SSDs achieve sequential read and write speeds up to 550 and 520 MB/sec respectively, and support max 4KB random write speeds up to 65,000 IOPS.* The performance advantages over HDDs in both sequential and random workloads are very significant.
