CDRLabs kicks off the week with a review of Silicon Power's Armor A15 USB 3.0 portable hard drive. Available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities, this rugged drive meets the U.S. military's drop-test standards with two-stage anti-shock technology. Along with a durable, anti-shock outer casing, the Armor A15 is equipped with an advanced internal hard drive suspension system. The drive also features a one touch backup button as well as a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface which allows transfer speeds up to 10x faster than USB 2.0.

OCZ Vector 256GB Solid State Drive

Available in capacities ranging from 128GB up to 512GB, the Vector is based on OCZ's new Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller. Developed entirely in-house, this cutting-edge controller is powered by both an ARM Cortex processor and OCZ's own Aragon co-processor and features an advanced, multi-level ECC engine, efficient garbage collection and adaptive flash management algorithms. The Vector is also equipped with 25nm synchronous MLC NAND and an extra large DRAM cache to deliver up to 550MB/s read and 530MB/s write speeds along with a maximum of 95,000 4KB random write IOPS.

Seagate Unveils Complete SSD Product Line

The company took the wraps off its first client solid state drive (SSD) and its next-generation enterprise SSDs. Featuring the Seagate 600 SSD, Seagate 600 Pro SSD, and the Seagate 1200 SSD, the new line of drives are engineered to deliver ultra-fast speed and high data integrity. Rounding out the portfolio, Seagate also announced the new Seagate X8 Accelerator, a storage class memory PCIe card powered by Virident enabling the company to offer all key interfaces including SATA and SAS solutions.

WD And SanDisk Team Up to Create WD Black Solid State Hybrid Drives

SanDisk is supplying a SanDisk iSSD storage device for the WD Black solid state hybrid drive (SSHD), the world’s thinnest 2.5-inch SSHD solution, which utilizes both WD proprietary hybrid technology and industry standard SATA IO technology. Buffalo Ships High Capacity DriveStation DDR USB 3.0 Hard Drive

Compared to a standard USB 3.0 hard drive, the 1 GB DRAM cache of the MegaCache system efficiently caches data as it's transferred to automatically boost performance for transfer speeds up to 408 MB/s, 2.3x faster than USB 3.0 hard drives and more than 10x faster than USB 2.0.
