20 February 2014

Pioneer Japan sent out a press release earlier this week, announcing its new 16x Blu-ray Disc writer, the BDR-S09J. This Windows 8.1 compatible drive is is capable of 16x BD-R, 14x BD-R DL, 8x BD-R LTH, 2x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 12x. The BDR-S09J also writes to triple-layer (100GB) BD-R media at 8x, quad-layer (128GB) BD-R media at 6x and triple-layer (100GB) BD-RE media at 2x.

Compared to the BDR-S08J, the BDR-S09J is 20% faster during disc setup and, thanks to an improved algorithm, is 10 minutes faster when verifying the contents of a recorded disc. Along with the usual assortment of features like Pioneer's PowerRead and PureRead3+ technologies, the BDR-S09J introduces a new "surface-oriented mode" that improves the appearance of BD-R discs by reducing the unevenness of the recording surface.  The drive also ships with authoring and playback software from CyberLink and is expected to cost about 20,000 Yen ($195US) when it hits stores in late February.

team_group_c134_usb_flash_drive.pngThe Team Group, who has always strived to satisfy consumer needs, has proudly released the C134 micro flash drive. The pursuit of having an item that is lightweight and miniature is the current trend of modern technology. The currently popular Ultrabook and tablet PCs all have these features. Team C134 is a micro flash drive boutique unit that can match these products. The delicate and mini drive body is only the size of a NTD $1 coin, and the “light” weight is only 3.4 grams. This allows it to stick closely on any thin mobile device without interfering with any USB equipment in use or become an obstruction when moving around. Enjoy style and convenience at any place and time with one of these drives in your hand.

By using COB packaging and one-piece technology, the volume and weight of flash drives was pushed a big step forward towards extreme lightness. The C134 has a super mini size of an NTD $1 coin and weighs a mere 3.4 grams. It will not cause any additional loads to notebook PCs or carrying bags whether in terms of usage or portability. At the same time, it still has a large capacity 4GB-32GB accessing space for unlimited storage. The compact size allows it to stick closely to other lightweight mobile devices while in use, so that it will not interfere or become an obstruction when using two USB devices or when carrying or moving the device. It prevents unnecessary space wastage and avoids possible collisions due to the excessive body size. It also echoes perfectly with the design concept of Ultrabook and tablet PCs, working impeccably together!
